Indian Father strangles Children and commits Suicide

An Indian father committed suicide after killing his two children. The incident took place in the Shalimar Bagh area of Delhi on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

It was reported that the children were strangled to death while their mother was out.

The man was identified as 44-year-old Madhur while the children were named as Samiksha, aged 14, and Shreyans, aged six.

The incident came to light at around 6:30 pm when Rupali returned home.

She went into the bedroom where she found her son and daughter lying on separate beds. Madhur was nowhere to be found.

Rupali initially thought that her children were sleeping so she tried to wake them, however, when there was no movement, she alerted the neighbours.

Neighbours gathered at the house but the matter was not reported until 7:15 pm.

Police officers arrived at the scene and admitted the children to the hospital but they were declared brought dead.

Officers began searching for Madhur only to receive a report of a suicide.

It was revealed that the Indian father took his own life by jumping in front of a metro train at Haiderpur Metro Station.

According to police, Madhur committed suicide at approximately 6:30 pm.

Police launched an investigation and searched the area. While they identified Madhur’s body, they could not find a suicide note.

Police officers believe that the financial strain on Madhur had led him to kill his children before taking his own life.

He had been unemployed for a long period of time and had become depressed.

It was suspected that the struggle to take care of his children financially led to Madhur strangling them to death.

A case was registered and the investigation is ongoing.

In a similar incident, a mother and her four daughters were found dead at their home having committed suicide.

The woman regularly got into arguments with her husband over his drug addiction. He would spend most of his earnings on drugs and would also beat his wife for money.

This left the woman upset and worried about her daughters’ future.

The matter came to light on February 1, 2020, however, the suicide happened several days prior.

The door of their house had been locked for several days and concerned neighbours called the police when a strong smell came from the house.

Officers arrived at the scene and broke down the door. When they entered, they discovered the bodies of the five family members.

It was revealed that the mother had laced some raisins with poison and gave them to her daughters before consuming them herself.

The matter was registered as a case of suicide based on the fact that the door had been locked from the inside.
