"I’m not chucking her out"

Harpreet Kaur has stated that she will not be ditching her sister Gurvinder from their dessert business.

On The Apprentice, it was revealed that Gurvinder was a co-owner of Barni’s, which she and Harpreet launched in 2018.

When questioned about the partnership in the boardroom, Harpreet appeared to say that she was prepared to ditch her sister’s stake in the business, saying:

“My sister won’t be a problem.”

Lord Sugar asked: “What are you going to do, chuck her out?”

Harpreet replied: “She’s prepared to step down.”

Lord Sugar continued: “How can you just tell somebody that you no longer own 50% of a business that I’m investing in that is going to be worth 20, 30 50 times more in five years’ time?”

Harpreet insisted: “That’s not a problem Lord Sugar.

“I’ve already had that conversation with her on a personal level, she’s my sister.”

This caused controversy, with many viewers accusing Harpreet of offering to fire her own sister in order to get the £250,000 investment.

Harpreet has since showered praise on Gurvinder and shared an Instagram Story, insisting that she will not be removing her sister from the business.

She wrote: “I’m not chucking her out, family over everything.”

The sisters have continued to promote their business, thanking customers for placing their orders.

On their business page, Harpreet admitted that she “couldn’t do this without her”.

In a video, the pair walk through their day-to-day operations. Harpreet Kaur says in a voiceover:

“Hey guys meet Guv! She is the co-founder of our dessert business and she is also my sister.

“We run the business together, she works with me on all of the growth plans. We love sitting down over a coffee and making business plans for the future of our business.

“Guv is always working hard. You can find her in all of our stores.

“She looks after all of our team and makes sure customers are happy and things are running smoothly.”

“We make an amazing team and I couldn’t do this without her. She is my best friend.”
