British South Asian trio Girls Like You have released their debut lead song ‘Boy Bye’, a confident, infectious anthem that blends English and Punjabi with attitude and heart.

Powered by a slick bassline and polished production from Alan Sampson and ADP, ‘Boy Bye’ merges urban and pop sounds into a fresh, feel-good groove.

There’s a strong sense of purpose behind every beat and behind every lyric.

Yasmin, Naveena, and Jaya harmonise effortlessly, layering sweetness with bite.

Their lyrics explore heartbreak, frustration, and self-worth, switching between English and Punjabi to reflect the trio’s cultural roots.

One punchy translated lyric cuts deep: “I would die for you, but you don’t talk to me.”

Another hits back with confidence: “I’m not the one crying now.”

Released on June 27, 2025, ‘Boy Bye’ introduces Girls Like You as a band with something to say, and the style to say it.

Fans are already loving the new release, with one writing:

“It’s a masterpiece created… so so in a vibe and on my all playlist and cannot stop hearing it since it came out.”

Another said: “Amazing harmonies and layering.”

A third commented: “I absolutely love the track.”

Comprised of Yasmin, Jaya and Naveena, Girls Like You were formed through a social media search, handpicked by their label with a clear vision in mind.

The chemistry clicked straight away.

Yasmin said: “Although I didn’t know the girls before we formed the group, now it feels as if I’ve known them forever.

“We’re generally always on the same page, we share a common vision and respect each other’s input.”

Behind the scenes, it hasn’t all been easy. Rehearsals mean long commutes to London for Leeds-based Naveena and Jaya, who is from Birmingham. Still, they don’t complain.

Naveena said: “It’s definitely a challenge, but we love what we do, so that makes up for it.”

Girls Like You is the first British South Asian girl group and Naveena added:

“We want to inspire girls like us to follow their passions and dreams.”

Yasmin stated: “We often have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously.”

Jaya agreed:

“We’re still underrepresented in these spaces, especially when it comes to South Asian executives.”

They’re also pushing back against cultural expectations.

Yasmin said: “Traditionally, I feel that South Asians are expected to go down an academic route rather than a creative one.

“Breaking those stereotypes is a big part of why this journey is so important, to show that we can unapologetically be ourselves.”

Their new release ‘Boy Bye’ is bold, vibrant and unafraid to challenge the norm. It comes after the girl trio collaborated with Chani Nattan and Inderpal Moga for ‘Best Friend‘.
