Amir Khan has paid an emotional tribute following the tragic death of his newborn nephew.

The boxer took to social media where he posted a picture of himself by the burial plot for Abdul, the son of Amir’s brother Haroon.

The infant was born on July 1, 2020, but sadly passed away on the same day.

Amir took to Instagram on July 2 and wrote:

“Tough day for the family. My nephew, son of my brother Haroon Khan passed away yesterday. The newborn didn’t make it.

“May Allah make it easy for the family, especially the mother and father, please keep us in your prayers.”

Haroon Khan, known as Harry, married Arifa Janjua in Pakistan in 2016. They have one son together.

Like his brother, Haroon is also a professional boxer. He has won all seven of his fights, with three coming by way of knockout.

Haroon also won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2010.

Amir Khan has three children with his wife Faryal Makhdoom, two daughters and one son.

The tragedy comes just over a month after Amir ended his feud with his parents and reunited with them.

The boxer, his wife and their children visited his parents at their home in Bolton, putting an end to a public 18-month feud.

The former world champion’s siblings and cousins were also there, many of whom he had not spoken to after also falling out with them.

It was an emotional reunion because it was the first time Shah and Falak had met their grandson, Muhammad Zaviyar.

The get-together was the first time since December 2018 that Mr and Mrs Khan had seen their son and Faryal and their two other grandchildren, Lamaisah and Alayna.

A source to the Daily Mail said:

“It was a very emotional reunion because both Shah and Falak have really missed not seeing Amir and his family.”

“They were also devastated that they had not seen their grandson and there were a lot of tears and joy when they laid eyes on him for the first time.

“There’s been a lot of harsh words exchanged between the two sides over the past few months, but this current coronavirus situation has made them see what’s really important. And that is your family.”

On his boxing career, Amir Khan insisted that he does not want to fight until fans are allowed to attend.

He has not fought since July 2019 when he defeated Billy Dib in Saudi Arabia.

Amir has a professional record of 34 wins and five losses. He is also a former unified light-welterweight world champion.
