“Are you sure? You are traumatised."

Fiza Ali is being criticised for appearing to exploit the trauma of a few girls on her show.

Fiza hosts the popular morning show Morning With Fiza. Recently, she featured a heart-wrenching case on air.

Two young girls, abandoned by their father who desired sons, shared their stories of trauma and loss.

The girls’ mother took her own life just five days after their father divorced her, leaving them orphaned and vulnerable.

The girls’ aunt has taken them in and is raising them as her own. She has even gone so far as to raise them as boys, as per their father’s wishes.

During the show, Fiza Ali asked the girls questions about their experiences, including the traumatic loss of their mother.

She pointed towards the sisters and said: “This is Wajeeha and this is Hurrain. These are girls. They are females. These are not boys.”

Her statement was due to the fact that the girls were dressed in waistcoats.

Fiza continued: “The things I heard about them. It is giving me goosebumps to even tell their story.

“Their father divorced their mother, and their mother poisoned herself.

“And these girls started dressing like boys just because their father treated their mother like that.”

Fiza Ali then got emotional and started crying.

Fiza asked the elder sister, Hurrain: “Are you traumatised?”

Hurrain said: “No.”

Fiza then probed: “Are you sure? You are traumatised. You dress like boys because you are going through a small trauma.”

Fiza later asked: “Did your mother commit suicide herself at home? Tell me the situation when you found out about it.”

Following this question, Hurrain became visibly upset.

Viewers were quick to react, expressing outrage and disappointment at the way Fiza and the show’s producers handled the situation.

Critics accused the show of exploiting the girls’ trauma and forcing them to relive their mother’s suicide on live television.

A user said: “What the h*ll are you doing to these young minor girls? This is outrageous. You are instilling their trauma in them and making it permanent.

“It will now stay with them their whole life.”

Another added:

“Have you any shame Fiza? Making money off of someone’s worst nightmare?”

The backlash against the show was swift and intense, with many calling for greater accountability, especially when dealing with sensitive and traumatic topics.

Viewers felt that the show had failed to provide a safe and supportive environment for the girls.

A user questioned: “How can you bear to make these girls sit and tell their story to the world?

“They are very young, they can not decide for themselves. How is this allowed?”

One declared: “This show needs to end. Every day she brings someone and pretends to cry with them. But exploiting young girls like this is unacceptable.”

Another commented: “Fiza Ali is giving them more trauma than their father did.”
