"I will call and ask if it would not be too much trouble"
Elon Musk fired a direct jibe at Mukesh Ambani over Starlink’s entry in India.
Musk’s Starlink had been eyeing the satellite broadband space in India.
But it will now spectrum to people after Musk opposed Ambani’s push for auction.
After the announcement was made, the SpaceX founder took to his platform X and remarked:
“We will do our best to serve the people of India with Starlink.”
However, a rivalry between the two billionaires appears to be brewing after Musk directly threw shade at Ambani.
I will call and ask if it would not be too much trouble to allow Starlink to compete to provide Internet services to the people of India.

The X user posted a meme that showed a scared Ambani along with the caption:
“Why is Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani afraid of Elon Musk?
“Is he worried about Starlink’s entry into India disrupting his telecom empire?”
Musk then jibed: “I will call and ask if it would not be too much trouble to allow Starlink to compete to provide Internet services to the people of India.”
Elon Musk’s remark about Mukesh Ambani’s Jio divided internet users.
Some are looking forward to Starlink’s entry in India while others are not happy with Musk taking aim at India’s largest telecom giant.
A user said: “Welcome Elon to India. So happy you turned to India.”
Some netizens asked Musk if his company would provide cheap internet like Jio.
A comment read: “Indians have one of the cheapest data in the world (the quality of connection and speed is quite decent as well), and that is largely down to Mukesh Ambani’s Jio.
“So thanks, but no thanks.”
One requested: “If you get me unlimited internet for $5 per month, I will get your services.”
There were even some who claimed that allowing Starlink in India would be a threat to national security.
One posted: “Indian government often shuts down internet access during riots to maintain order.
“Allowing a foreign entity control over internet services could pose a threat to national security.
“No sensible nation would give such power to an outsider. Hope the government takes the right decision.”
Meanwhile, at an event in Delhi, telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that spectrum allocation will be done administratively following due process with the pricing as per the telecom watchdog TRAI.
Reportedly, Reliance Jio had privately written to Scindia urging for a fair process of auction to grant a level-playing field for the Indian competitors.
Elon Musk called the proposed auction “unprecedented” and argued the administrative allocation of spectrum was in line with global trends.
