"It should've been you who fell."
The latest episode of the BBC’s EastEnders showed things take a disastrous turn for Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).
In recent instalments of the soap, Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) has been determined to take revenge against Ravi after he cuckooed him into selling drugs.
Ravi also kept Harry hostage. The ordeal resulted in Harry losing his girlfriend, Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) and his father, Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian).
He nearly died from overdosing several times but was saved by his mother, Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), and spent some time in rehab.
On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Nicola spiked Ravi’s drink, resulting in the restaurateur having hallucinations.
Harry lured him to The Arches and left him in the pit, where EastEnders then aired a surprise return for Ravi’s father, Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), as part of Ravi’s hallucinations.
In the latest episode, airing on January 8, Ravi managed to stagger out of the Arches, while his family looked for him.
Ravi continued to imagine Nish tormenting him. In January 2025, Ravi killed Nish by pushing him off a roof.
As Ravi lay slumped on the streets, he imagined Nish telling him: “You’re getting what you deserve.
“Because you are every bit as twisted as your old man. It should’ve been you who fell.”
Ravi’s son, Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury), then found his father.
But still trapped in his hallucinations, Ravi believed that Nugget was Nish, and he attacked him.
After throwing his son to the ground and beating him, Ravi limped away.
Nugget was later found by his uncle, Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota).
Meanwhile, a panicked Harry told Nicola that Ravi had disappeared and could tell anyone everything.
Nicola said: “He’s not going to cause any trouble, state he’ll be in.
“Trust me. Right now, Ravi Gulati couldn’t hurt a fly.”
However, the episode then cut to Nugget lying in a hospital in a comatose state.
His mother, and Ravi’s partner, Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy), wailed as he was taken into intensive care.
This episode of EastEnders ended with Ravi clinging to life out on the streets.
However, will Nugget survive and if Ravi discovers what he has done, how will he live with himself?
In upcoming episodes, Ravi wakes up with no memory of what has happened, but unread text messages will lead him to worry.
Ravi tries to confide in Priya, but she is left reeling from his admissions.
The police also arrive, wanting to talk to Priya.
One thing is clear: the drama is far from over for the Panesars and the Gulatis.
