There is only more drama to come.
In the BBC’s EastEnders, things are getting more and more dramatic for Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy).
The character has been having a scandalous affair with Max Branning (Jake Wood), despite his engagement to Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins).
In the latest episode of the soap, which became available to stream on BBC iPlayer on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, a shocking twist emerged in the storyline.
The episode opened with Max and Priya waking up together. However, Max didn’t notice that Priya was feeling a bit nauseated.
Priya secretly brought a pregnancy test, but was thrown when Cindy asked her to help her organise her hen do.
The car lot worker reluctantly agreed but was stunned when her former partner, Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) proposed to her.
Previously, her daughter, Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), encouraged her to give things another go with Ravi.
When Ravi popped the question, Priya was too overwhelmed to answer.
Ravi then said: “Just promise you’ll think about it.”
Priya visited Max and told him she needed to end their affair.
A disappointed Max responded: “I just hope that he treats you right this time.”
However, at Cindy’s hen party, Priya vomited on Cindy’s dress, causing the latter’s daughter-in-law, Lauren Beale (Jacqueline Jossa), to provide Cindy with a new one.
Lauren and Cindy talked in the toilets, and Lauren said: “Your wedding is going to be perfect, Cindy.
“Nothing’s going to spoil it – not even the contents of Priya’s stomach.”
However, when they exited the bathroom, it transpired that Priya was in one of the cubicles, holding a pregnancy test.
This twist links to Max Branning’s flash-forward episode, which aired on January 1, 2026.
The episode teased Max’s journey until New Year 2027. The special episode began with Max getting ready to get married.
However, he woke up next to a pregnant woman. Is that woman Priya?
The episode also showed a gunman threatening to shoot Max’s children, Lauren and Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier).
Max was asked to choose between his kids and viewers have been pondering whether the assailant would be Ravi.
It was recently reported that Aaron Thiara would be leaving EastEnders as Ravi in the coming months.
So, could this storyline be linked to his exit?
One thing is clear: there is only more drama to come for several families in EastEnders.
