Brit Asia Music Awards Nominees 2012

The Brit Asia TV Music Awards 2012 nominees were announced at a glitzy party featuring the gathering of some of UK’s fantastic musical talent of singers and music producers. DESiblitz went along.

The Brit Asia TV Music Nominations party was held at ‘The Vaults’, in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, on Thursday 23rd August 2012. Announcing the nominees for the 2012 music awards.

The urban styled venue shared an elegant ambience and was flooded with artists from the British Asian music scene. Supported by the press and media, the star dazzling party was promising us a night we would always remember.

DESIblitz were honoured to be a part of this exclusive event, where they soaked up all the gossip!

The evening was hosted by presenter Sukhi Bart, who announced the 15 distinctive categories for the upcoming 15 prestigious awards later in October. A new category was also introduced for the ‘Best Dressed Act’. The buzzing atmosphere was electrifying to say the least.

With Bhangra legends like Jazzy B and Jaz Dhami, Urban talent like Metz & Trix and Roach Killer as well as new artists like Jay Status and Banger, all under the same roof showing their love and support for music! The extravagant party was highly glitz and glam, with flowing champagne and delightful canapés. With the stars mingling and conversations hovering in the air, the atmosphere in the relaxed venue was a very pleasant one.

JK told us that if he had the change to win any award it would be Best Male singer and since last year was not his time, he said: “Last year I should’ve got the Best Male, I think year I should get it!”

Kee looked relaxed when asked what she hoped for and said: “I’m not too fussed to be honest but you know it would be nice, last year I got Best Female, it would be a nice bonus, a nice surprise if I got Best Female this year.”

Jaz Dhami, who was present to support other artists said: “To be honest I don’t deserve to be nominated this year because I haven’t put any music out! There’s always room for me next year. I’m here to support the people in the scene and here to just meet everybody!”

The prince of Bhangra, Jazzy B, who grabbed most of the nominations on the night, said it feels good to be nominated, especially for ‘Best Band’ as he’s been working for them since the last 17 to 18 years. He was also very complimentary of other artists and said: “It’s good to see the new generations producing Punjabi music.”

When asked, ‘What one artist comes to mind that should be nominated’, most artists vouched for Honey Singh, who’s been nominated for ‘Best International Act’ and ‘Best Album’ which is International Villager. Another talked about artist, whose talent is astounding is Banger. He’s Nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ and said: “It hasn’t sunk in…Feels amazing”

The invitation only event was enjoyed by all the artists, even those who weren’t nominated left on a positive note and were grateful to be part of an industry that is forever growing stronger.

We managed to catch up with many of the artists attending and find out more about their reactions to the night:
