Bangladeshi television actor Azizur Rahman Azad was shot and injured by unidentified attackers at his residence in Ashulia.

The attack also left his wife, Roksana Haque, and his mother, Azizunnahar, injured.

The incident has sparked concern in the local community as police investigate the motive and identity of the suspects.

According to Azad’s elder sister, Afrina Akhter, the 34-year-old actor was on the second floor of their four-story home.

He heard unusual noises coming from the kitchen on the first floor at around 2:45 am.

Azad went to investigate, only to be confronted by intruders who opened fire.

They shot the actor three times—twice in the left leg and once in the right leg.

Hearing the gunshots, Azad’s wife and mother rushed to the kitchen.

Upon arrival, they encountered three attackers who physically assaulted them before fleeing the scene.

The assailants fired approximately 10 to 15 blank rounds before escaping.

Amid the chaotic situation, none of the family members could identify the attackers.

Surprisingly, the intruders did not take anything from the house before leaving.

Neighbours, alerted by the noise, quickly arrived at the scene.

They assisted in transporting the injured individuals to Ship International Hospital in Uttara, Dhaka.

Medical professionals confirmed that Azad had sustained three bullet wounds but assured that his condition was stable and out of danger.

Dr Kamruzzaman, who treated Azad, stated that prompt medical attention helped prevent more serious complications.

Authorities from Ashulia Police Station, led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur Alam Siddique, responded to the incident.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the attackers gained entry by cutting the kitchen window grille.

The police have launched an inquiry and are working to identify the perpetrators.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but law enforcement is exploring all possibilities, including personal disputes and attempted burglary.

It has garnered significant media attention due to Azad’s prominence in the entertainment industry.

Interestingly, a few days before the incident, on February 21, 2024, Azad posted pictures of his new home on social media.

He wrote: “Home sweet home.”

Fans are praying for Azizur Rahman Azad’s swift recovery, leaving their wishes on the actor’s Facebook page.

A user wrote: “May Allah heal you, and give you a good life. I feel hurt to see you in this condition brother.”

Another commented: “Couldn’t accept after hearing the news. Get well very soon. Praying for the wellbeing of all the family.”
