Ador Azad and Shobnom Bubly are set to reunite in the upcoming film Dhakaiya Devdas.
The much-anticipated launch event of the film took place on November 7, 2025, in Dhaka.
The event was held at a local club and marked the official beginning of the film’s production journey.
Featuring the popular onscreen duo Ador Azad and Shobnom Bubly, the film aims to blend romance with the heritage of Old Dhaka.
Set against the vivid cultural landscape of the city, Dhakaiya Devdas explores the centuries-old traditions and festivals that define the area.
Although filming has not yet begun, the production team confirmed that principal photography will start in January 2026 during the Shakrain festival.
Several key scenes will be filmed at real locations in Old Dhaka to capture the area’s historic charm and cultural authenticity.
Director Zahid Hossain shared that Dhakaiya Devdas will be a love story deeply rooted in the traditions of Old Dhaka.
He explained that the film will portray the harmony among various communities that celebrate their festivals with shared happiness and respect.
He said: “Through the story of two people, we want to showcase the heritage, colours, and emotions of Old Dhaka.”
The director added that events such as Eid, Muharram, Pahela Baishakh, and Shakrain beautifully symbolise unity in diversity within the old city.
Speaking about the title, Zahid Hossain clarified that “Devdas” is used metaphorically to represent heartbreak and emotional transformation.
“In the story, the lead character begins to see himself as a modern-day Devdas after losing his love.”
The film marks the fourth collaboration between Ador Azad and Shobnom Bubly, who have become one of Dhallywood’s most loved screen pairs.
Their on-screen partnership began with Talash in 2022, followed by Local in 2023, both receiving warm audience responses.
They also starred together in Zahid Jewel’s Pinik, which is currently awaiting release and has already generated considerable curiosity.
Dhakaiya Devdas is being produced under the joint banner of Excel Films and Revolution Movies International, two major Bangladeshi production houses.
The supporting cast features veteran actors Tariq Anam Khan, Shahiduzzaman Selim, and Rashed Mamun Apu alongside the lead pair.
With its mix of love, tradition, and nostalgia, the film promises to bring audiences closer to Old Dhaka’s cultural identity.
If executed as envisioned, Dhakaiya Devdas could emerge as a heartfelt cinematic tribute to a city where heritage meets human emotion.
