Saba Azad is currently enjoying the euphoria of her thriller web series Crime Beat (2025).
The series premiered on ZEE5 Global on Friday, February 21, 2025 and starred Saba as Maya Mathur.
It is a series about journalism and the darkness that sometimes accompanies it.
Crime Beat is directed by Sudhir Mishra and Sanjeev Kaul.
The series also starred Saqib Saleem as Abhishek Sinha and Sai Tamhankar as Archana Pandey.
The show also found a strong anchor in Rahul Bhat, who portrayed Binny Chaudhary.
Laced with twists and turns, Saba brings a mysterious complexity and depth to this eight-part series.
In our exclusive interview, Saba Azad delved into Crime Beat and her character of Maya.

Can you tell us about Crime Beat? What is the story?
Saba describes Crime Beat as an “edge-of-your-seat thriller”.
It sees the characters undergo emotional turmoil in the world of investigative journalism.
She adds that she cannot wait for the audience to watch it.
Can you tell us about your character Maya and what attracted you to the role?
Maya is a passionate and driven girl and works in the Lifestyle section of the newspaper.
She has a hunger for success, eager to carve her own identity.
Saba was attracted to the script and she looked forward to working with her directors and co-stars.
How was it like collaborating with Sanjeev Kaul and Sudhir Mishra on this project?
Saba Azad praises Sanjeev and Sudhir and labels them as “amazing”.
She particularly highlights Sudhir and notes his energy and openness to interpretation.
Saba is thankful she could work with Sudhir and similarly, she underlines Sanjeev Kaul for being collaborative and respondent to her suggestions.
Saba Azad shines with an unmatched spark in Crime Beat. In another interview with Pinkvilla, she added:
“The one thing that I took away from it is that—to get that one story, to make it to the newspaper — it takes a lot of hard work and corroboration.
“It’s not easy at all and it comes with a sense of responsibility.”
In recent years, Saba Azad has been in the headlines for her relationship with Hrithik Roshan.
However, she is a talented artist in her own right and Crime Beat shows that.
