Who did Denise choose?
It has been an explosive, exciting, and intense time for EastEnders as the show recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.
The dramatic week was filled with twists, turns, and terror as the Queen Vic pub exploded, leaving many residents of Walford in danger.
To commemorate its milestone, EastEnders offered viewers their first chance to decide the outcome of a love story.
The occasion involved Denise Fox (Diane Parish) choosing between her flame, Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) and her ex-husband, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).
The audience could vote via the BBC website about who Denise picked, and the result was revealed in a live episode, broadcast on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Who did Denise choose?
A part of the episode showed Denise knock on Jack’s door as Ravi watched sadly as she entered the house.
Denise told Jack: “Ravi and I would never go anywhere. We’re from two different worlds, and I see a future with you, Jack.
“My feelings haven’t changed. I still love you.”
Jack questioned: “How do I know it will be different this time?”
Denise responded: “We forgot to make time for ourselves before. We’re not just parents – we are people in our own right.
“I want that passion back. I want to listen, and I want to be heard. I want to get to know you all over again.”
Jack and Denise then kissed, but what will this mean for Ravi?
Meanwhile, some EastEnders viewers weren’t happy with the outcome.
One fan declared: “Denise is p******g me off. This was the wrong choice.”
Another said: “Who are the boring b*****ds who voted for Jack? What a yawn fest.”
The audience could also make another decision that was revealed in the live episode.
As Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) gave birth, viewers chose the name of her daughter.
They had a choice between ‘Julia’ and ‘Toni’ and according to the votes of the audience, Sonia named her child ‘Julia’.
However, while there was joy in the episode for Sonia and Denise, tragedy lay elsewhere.
In the previous episode of EastEnders, Martin Fowler (James Bye) was trapped under a beam after saving his ex-wife Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).
After the paramedics arrived, Stacey and Martin declared their undying love for each other and even planned to marry again.
But the paramedics later told Stacey that Martin could suffer a cardiac arrest after the beam was lifted from his legs due to his body going into shock.
When the beam was lifted, at first, it seemed that Martin was doing well. However, he soon lost consciousness.
The attempts to revive Martin were sadly unsuccessful and he passed away, marking James Bye’s exit from the show after over ten years in the role.
Stacey’s shrieks could be heard by everyone outside the pub as Martin’s other ex-wife Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) collapsed to her knees in tears.
How will Ravi react to Denise’s decision and will the residents ever be able to come to terms with their beloved Martin’s death?
