"people are scared to show their support for Palestine."
Amir Khan has pledged his support for Palestine while also claiming people are “scared” to come out in support of the state.
Tension between Israel and Palestine has been long-running. But things escalated when the militant Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise attack.
The group fired thousands of rockets at civilian settlements.
At least 1,200 people have been killed and thousands more have been injured.
This has led to a series of retaliatory strikes.
Many have shown their support for Israel but Amir Khan has stated that “Palestinian lives matter”.
In a lengthy post on X, the former boxer said that he has “never been scared to speak” his mind.
The post began: “My entire career, my aim was to become a champion and use my fame and influence to make a positive change in the world.
“I’ve never been scared to speak my mind and stand up for the down trodden.
“Recently when Ukraine was attacked by Russia, I personally flew to Poland to support the Ukrainian refugees who had been displaced by the effects of war.”
Many have condemned the attack on Israel. Meanwhile, Amir questioned why there is silence when discussing attacks on Palestine.
He continued: “So many people spoke up about these atrocities but as the world watches what is unfolding in Palestine, I see so many of my peers, friends and colleagues who are remaining silent.
Amir then claimed that people are “scared” to support Palestine.
“It’s become apparent that people are scared to show their support for Palestine. Palestinian lives matter.
“The world will remember who spoke up and who didn’t. And God will remember who stayed silent while innocent Muslims’ blood was spilled.”

He also shared a passage from the Quran that read:
“If anyone kills a person – it would be as if he killed the whole of humanity: and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole of humanity.”
Amir’s fans praised him for providing a voice for Palestinians, with one user writing:
“Thank you so much for voicing for poor Palestine.”
“I am glad you didn’t choose to be like so many other celebrities who are dead inside out. Every voice matters.”
Another said: “Well said.”
However, some were critical of the tweet, with one person accusing Amir and other former sports personalities of thinking they are experts on international affairs.
The tweet read: “Serious question.
“Why do so many ex-sports people think they’re experts on international affairs?
“The latest one is Amir Khan! Most of them probably spent very little time in school, and just select their woke topics. In the meantime, has anyone heard from [Gary] Lineker or [Gary] Neville?”
