Evelyn Sharma reveals Why she gave up Bollywood Stardom

Actress and model Evelyn Sharma swapped the glamour of Bollywood for life in the rural town of Chinchilla, Queensland, with her Australian husband.

She stated that while the relocation is “the best thing” she ever did, she does sometimes miss “the glamorous life”.

Speaking to Australian news programme A Current Affair, Evelyn said:

“The glamorous life, I do miss it sometimes, the red carpet and getting dressed up in beautiful gowns and sarees.

“It’s been like a tornado, a whirlwind in my life. It’s changed so much.”

But she says moving to Australia had been the “best thing” for her family.

Evelyn lives in Chinchilla, a rural town in the Western Downs Region, after her dental surgeon husband Tushaan Bhindi bought the local practice.

Tushaan recalled how they first met.

“We actually met on a blind date and we were introduced by a mutual friend who believed that we had a lot in common and they were right.”

Speaking about first moving to Australia, Evelyn said:

“In the beginning, it felt like a mental detox, being in Chinchilla in the country, away from 22 million people in one city.

“That constant noise that you have around yourself but also being conscious of paparazzi, that was just my everyday life.

“At some point here I started getting very uncomfortable if I saw phones pointing at me, but then I was like, they don’t know who I am, they’re not taking my picture, and it became really relaxing, and I felt so safe.”

Evelyn ended up making several friends at the Chinchilla Gardening Club.

“They embraced me so much, it was lovely.”

“We have about a hundred members in our gardening club and it felt like I’ve got all these mums and grandmas.”

Evelyn married Tushaan in May 2021 and welcomed their daughter later that year.

She admitted that during her pregnancy, it was “really really tough” being separated from her family and friends.

But she said the town had been very supportive of her and her family.

Evelyn Sharma made her Bollywood debut in From Sydney with Love in 2012. She also appeared in the likes of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Jab Harry Met Sejal.

Evelyn added that the “Bollywood movie offers are still rolling in” but for now, she’s content with family life in Australia.
