"it also shatters many dreams"

Kangana Ranaut said she was banned by the film industry as she supported the #MeToo movement.

The actress had come out in support of various actresses who came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation in the industry.

The #MeToo movement first came to light after Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of Sexual Harassment.

Kangana came out in support of the women but later dubbed the #MeToo movement a failure as nothing developed.

She also said that those she supported vanished.

Kangana made the revelation on Lock Upp after contestant Saisha Shinde opened up about having a sexual encounter with her “favourite designer”.

On the show, Kangana said: “I think the sexual exploitation of young people is so common, especially in the film industry, in the fashion industry.

“No matter how much we defend the industry, it’s the truth…While it gives so many opportunities, it also shatters many dreams and leaves people permanently scarred. This is the black truth.”

She went on to speak about #MeToo coming to nothing.

“Even when #MeToo happened here, what happened to that? Nothing.

“The women that had come forward with accusations, they have all vanished from the face of the planet.

“I was banned from the industry, while the women I supported disappeared.”

Saisha Shinde had revealed that prior to coming out as transgender, she got to know a leading designer who claimed he was living out of his suitcase.

He later called her to his hotel room.

Saisha said: “After hearing this, I hugged him, and of course we had sex. I was in touch with him, we met often.

“Later I found out from my friends that they also were told the same story about the suitcase.”

She explained that the designer had at least seven male lovers.

Saisha stated that while she did not speak to anyone about her sexual encounter with the designer, he spread the news among industry members.

It resulted in Saisha being banned from fashion week.

Kangana is one of Bollywood’s most outspoken actresses.

In addition to speaking about #MeToo, she was responsible for sparking Bollywood’s nepotism debate.

She previously criticised Karan Johar for only launching star kids.

Kangana has also slammed star kids, namely Alia Bhatt. She recently accused Alia of spreading false box office numbers of Gangubai Kathiawadi.
