Akshay Kumar took to Twitter to announce that he has been hospitalised after testing positive for Covid-19.
The news comes a day after the Bollywood megastar revealed that he tested positive.
He had said that he was under “home quarantine”.
Akshay previously said: “I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for Covid-19.
“Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself.
“I am under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care.”
Akshay Kumar had been filming Ram Setu in Mumbai. He also advised those who came into contact with him to get themselves tested.
He added: “I would sincerely request all those that have come in contact with me get themselves tested and take care of.
“Back in action soon!”

Following the announcement, his fans wished him a speedy recovery.
Now, the actor revealed that he is hospital but said it was a precautionary measure.
In another statement, Akshay said:
“Thank you, everyone, for all your warm wishes and prayers, they seem to be working.
“I am doing fine, but as a precautionary measure under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home soon. Take care.”
According to reports, up to 45 crew members on the set of Ram Setu have tested positive for Covid-19.
At least 100 people were set to begin filming. The filmmakers decided to get them tested. Approximately 45 tested positive.
As a result, filming has been postponed for two weeks.
India has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases, recording an all-time high of 103,558 infections in one day.
The single-day rise in cases surpassed the previous record of 97,894, which was recorded on September 17, 2020.
Since the pandemic started, Maharashtra reported the highest single-day spike on April 4, 2021, with 57,074.
This has resulted in a night curfew being imposed in Maharashtra.
The rising cases may also mean that Akshay Kumar’s other project, Sooryavanshi, may not release on April 30, 2021.
The film was initially set to release on March 24, 2020, however, the pandemic resulted in its delay.
Rising Covid-19 cases has also seen numerous Bollywood celebrities contract the virus.
The likes of Alia Bhatt, Kartik Aaryan and Aamir Khan contracted the virus.
Bhumi Pednekar posted a lengthy message on Instagram on April 5, 2021, explaining that she had the virus and was self-isolating.
She said that she had mild symptoms and also urged those who have come in contact with her to take a test.
Bhumi also advised her followers to take the pandemic seriously. She wrote:
“Please don’t take the current situation lightly, even though I followed utmost precaution and care, I’ve contracted it.
“Wear a mask, keep washing your hands, maintain social distancing and be mindful of your general behaviour.”
