Actor and television presenter Adil Ray has been confirmed as the newest regular co-host of Good Morning Britain.

The announcement comes amid claims that GMB bosses plan to ‘rotate presenters’ after Piers Morgan left the show in March 2021.

Adil Ray has been a stand-in presenter on GMB since 2018. He has previously co-hosted the ITV show alongside Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway.

Now, Ray will sit beside Reid and Garraway to co-host the show Monday to Wednesday for the month of April, beginning on Monday, April 5, 2021.

Adil Ray made the announcement on his Instagram account on Saturday, April 3, 2021.

The caption read:

“Some news for you… I will be co-hosting @gmb throughout the whole of April Mon to Weds, starting this Monday with @kategarraway and @susannareid100 after the hols.

“I would love for you to make it your daily wake up if you fancy it! #goodmorningbritain.”

Messages of congratulations followed Adil Ray’s announcement.

Fellow presenter Ranvir Singh said: “Fantastic news – so happy for you.”

Another Instagram user said: “This is great news, I’ve haven’t been looking forward to hearing who’ll be filling in Mon to Weds… I just hope you will be doing them for longer”

A third person said:

“They picked the best man for the job. Congratulations.”

Adil Ray’s announcement follows reports of Susanna Reid becoming the solo host of GMB after Piers Morgan’s famous departure.

Morgan left the ITV show after saying that he “didn’t believe a word” of Meghan Markle’s comments during her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

A statement released by ITV confirmed Piers Morgan’s departure following his dramatic exit from the show on March 9, 2021.

ITV said: “Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

After Morgan’s exit, GMB received its highest-ever ratings.

However, since his departure, the show’s viewership has slowly declined.

Adil Ray’s co-hosting announcement seems to confirm reports that the ITV show plans to rotate its presenters.

In an interview, ITV boss Kevin Lygo said:

“We have a roster of presenters, including Ben [Shephard], Susanna [Reid], Charlotte [Hawkins] and Kate [Garraway].

“They’re all stepping up and doing a few more days than they would have done…”

According to Lygo, GMB plans to “mix and match” presenters until they know what the future holds for the show.
