"Rajput identity is once again being dragged."

Actor Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Chauhaan has landed in significant controversy shortly after its announcement.

The Kshatriya Parishad objected strongly to the use of the name Chauhaan in the film.

The organisation accused the makers of “weaponising Rajput history” and “appropriating Rajput identities” deliberately.

They claimed the film was using historical identities for what they termed contemporary political narratives.

In a statement shared on social media, the Kshatriya Parishad alleged serious concerns about the project.

The organisation claimed the film was using the Chauhan clan name for contemporary communal politics purposes.

“Kshatriya Parishad strongly condemns the recent attempt by Neeraj Yadav and actor Ajay Devgn to appropriate the Chauhan clan name for contemporary communal politics.

“The Chauhans are a historic Rajput (Kshatriya) lineage whose legacy belongs to history, not to partisan campaigns or manufactured media controversies.”

The group asserted that the Chauhans are a historic Rajput lineage with significant historical importance.

Their legacy belongs to history and should not be drawn into partisan campaigns deliberately.

Calling the development “deeply unfortunate,” the organisation alleged troubling concerns about the film’s approach.

It further alleged that Rajput identity was being invoked in a political narrative situation.

The community neither initiated nor endorsed the narrative being presented through this film production.

“It is deeply unfortunate that Rajput identity is once again being dragged into a political narrative that Rajputs neither initiated nor sought.

“At a time when Rajput voices remain under-represented in mainstream media and public discourse, invoking a Rajput clan name merely to provoke outrage, inflame caste and communal sentiments, or generate political spectacle is both irresponsible and disrespectful.”

The Kshatriya Parishad further argued that such portrayals reflect profound ignorance of Indian history.

They claimed such approaches reduce the subcontinent’s complex past to simplistic communal binary narratives.

Backing its stand, the group cited several historical examples to support its position.

Medieval political alliances were driven by statecraft, military strategy and political loyalties primarily.

They were not driven by the present-day communal narratives often associated with them.

The group further asserted that it rejects all attempts to weaponise Rajput history deliberately.

They rejected attempts to appropriate Rajput identities for electoral or ideological purposes whatsoever.

It urged political leaders, filmmakers and media organisations to engage with history responsibly.

Rajput heritage should not be used as “bait for divisive political debate” purposefully.

The title announcement teaser presents Ajay Devgn in an intense, larger-than-life action avatar.

It opens with a gritty monologue about decades of unrest in Kashmir historically.

The monologue references 75 years of conflict and heavy military deployment extensively.

It discusses temporary measures that have failed to deliver a lasting peaceful solution.

The clip builds towards a powerful warning about the future of the situation.

It culminates in the dialogue, “Pathaanon se kehna, Chauhaan aa raha hai,” meaningfully.

This positions Devgn’s character as the force set to change the course of the conflict.

The teaser presents a nationalist action narrative centred on the Kashmir conflict resolution.
