"she heard the shots, like a bomb."
Police are appealing for information after a 42-year-old man was found shot dead in a car in East London.
Masum Miah was found by officers at around 3 am on August 18 on St Bartholomew’s Road, East Ham.
Shots had been fired at a white Toyota Prius at the location before suspects fled.
The Metropolitan Police said officers responded to reports of gunshots before finding Miah with gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of police and medical staff, he was pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests have been made.
Detective Chief Inspector Dan Whitten said: “Our thoughts remain with Masum’s family as they come to terms with his tragic death.
“We are continuing to appeal to anyone with information that could assist our enquiries to come forward.”
Police have cordoned off St Bartholomew’s Road as enquiries continue.
An evidence tent was also set up behind a white Toyota Prius, which had crashed into a black Range Rover.
Abdul Qadir, director of nearby estate agent ARQ Homes, said the white Prius had collided with his Range Rover.
He said: “Just past 3 am my car alarm went off.
“My daughter heard the car alarm go off and she heard the shots, like a bomb. She heard the impact of two vehicles. And I heard people running off.
“It’s the third time my car’s been collided with – so I thought ‘It’s 3 am, I’m not going out to investigate’.
“I just went back to sleep, because I know this happens around here.
“Then up to 10 minutes after, I heard people gathering. They said someone had been shot.”
The Metropolitan Police are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information about what happened to come forward.
Mr Miah’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
DCI Whitten added: “If you were in the area at the time of the shooting, witnessed anything suspicious or have any dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage that could support our investigation, we urge you to get in touch.
“No matter how big or small the information you have is, it could prove vital in helping us piece together the full circumstances.”
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact police.
