Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn is all set to make his television debut as the host and narrator of the iconic crime show Crime Patrol.
The Singham star will front the new season of the long-running Sony TV franchise.
The new season of Crime Patrol is set to premiere on Sony TV on August 31, 2026, marking a significant moment for the beloved franchise.
The upcoming season will focus on new-age crime stories and explore how the nature of crime has evolved and changed over time.
A source close to the production said that Ajay Devgn has already completed shooting for the promotional material for the show.
The source said: “This season of Crime Patrol will bring forth fresh stories and explore how crime has changed over the years.
“Given that Ajay Devgn has been the face of Singham, where he plays a police officer fighting crime, the makers felt he would be the right choice to lead the show.
“The actor is also excited about joining a marquee property like Crime Patrol.
“The first promo of the show will soon go live and will highlight the theme of the new season.”
The decision to bring in Devgn is seen as a natural fit given his long and celebrated association with the crime and cop genre.
His iconic portrayal of the fearless Singham across multiple films has firmly established him as one of Bollywood’s most credible cop figures.
The makers clearly saw a powerful alignment between his screen persona and the tone and spirit of the Crime Patrol franchise.
For Ajay Devgn, the show represents his first major television hosting stint.
Crime Patrol first premiered on Sony TV on May 9, 2003, and has since become one of the longest-running crime franchises on Indian television.
The show presents dramatised versions of real-life crime cases, focusing on the circumstances surrounding incidents and the investigations that follow.
Over the decades, the franchise has gone through numerous seasons, format changes and title changes in its effort to remain relevant.
The franchise has previously been presented by Diwakar Pundir, Shakti Anand, Sakshi Tanwar, Sanjeev Tyagi and Divyanka Tripathi among several others.
Sonali Kulkarni and Ashutosh Rana have also served as hosts of the show during different seasons and format iterations over the years.
With Ajay Devgn now stepping in as the face and narrator, the franchise is once again reinventing itself with a significant change.
