"I hope listeners enjoy this new chapter"
Malayalam hit ‘Kalyani’ has entered a new chapter with a remix featuring the acclaimed Shreya Ghoshal.
The track, by ARJN, KDS, RONN and FIFTY4, has already become a major success across India.
The remix brings Ghoshal’s Hindi vocals to the song while retaining its original melody, storytelling and cultural identity.
Released by Def Jam Recordings India, ‘Kalyani Remix’ follows the original’s growing success beyond its Malayalam roots. The song has surpassed 89 million views on YouTube and 31 million streams on Spotify.
The remix has also made an impact on Spotify’s regional and national charts, peaking at number four on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs chart in India and number one in the UAE.
It also reached number one in Kochi and Dubai, while currently sitting at number one in Kochi and number two in Bengaluru. The track has entered charts in Kolkata, Patna, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Guwahati.
ARJN said: “It started as a song that was deeply personal to us and our culture, but watching ‘Kalyani’ travel across regions and resonate with North Indian audiences has been incredible.”
At the heart of ‘Kalyani’ is a story of admiration, longing and romance. Its Malayalam lyrics portray a woman whose presence leaves a lasting impression.
The original blends contemporary Kerala influences with hip-hop, R&B and melodic elements.
Ghoshal’s Hindi vocals introduce another emotional dimension while helping connect the song with a wider Hindi-speaking audience.
Speaking about the collaboration, Shreya Ghoshal said: “What struck me about ‘Kalyani’ was the sincerity of its emotion and the beauty of its melody.
“I loved the idea of bringing a Hindi voice into a song that had already transcended language barriers, and I hope listeners enjoy this new chapter as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
KDS said: “Bringing Shreya Ghoshal onto the remix felt like a natural next step because she has a unique ability to make songs feel timeless and universally relatable.”
FIFTY4 added:
“When we first made ‘Kalyani’, we were simply creating something that felt honest to us.”
“The fact that it travelled so far and connected with people beyond Kerala was a reminder that genuine emotion always finds its audience.
“Having Shreya Ghoshal on the remix takes that journey to another level.”
The release is accompanied by an official music video starring Malayalam actor Saniya Iyappan. It offers a new visual interpretation of the story that has already connected with listeners.
