"Is it necessary to show every part of your body"

Aima Baig found herself at the centre of a social media storm. This was after she posted pictures on Instagram donning a striking orange saree.

The post was captioned: “‘Ve Kamleya’ moment minus my co-star, coz there was none.”

The saree was by the clothing brand Ayesha Shoaib Malik.

It was coupled with a midriff-baring blouse that featured gold detailing.

Aima’s saree was accessorised with orange bangles.

It complimented her dark red hair, however, the outfit sparked a flurry of backlash from netizens.

The controversy surrounding Aima’s attire stemmed from the cultural and religious sensitivities deeply ingrained within Pakistanis.

The sight of a public figure like her, flaunting attire deemed inappropriate by society, ignited a heated debate on cultural identity and values.

One said: “Why can’t these so-called Muslims wear a complete dress? Is it necessary to show every part of your body to everyone?

“Frankly speaking, your body is disgusting to look at.”

Another added: “You should have cleaned your armpits.”

Accusing Aima Baig of editing the pictures, one person wrote:

“The photos are so heavily edited. Her waist looks quite big in videos while in the pictures, she is somehow slimmer than Bella Hadid.”

Another claimed: “You can see where she edited herself to look slim.

“Her arms are deformed in some photos where she stretched the image.”

One said: “She could have edited her dark underarms too. They look ugly.”

Others criticised her for the way she styled the saree.

A user said: “Pathetic way of wearing such a beautiful saree.”

Some claimed she underwent cosmetic procedures, as one stated:

“Horrible lip fillers.”

Another was not a fan of Aima’s tattoos.

“I don’t know why girls think that tattoos would make them look good.”

Several netizens resorted to composing sarcastic comments with the deliberate intention of mocking Aima Baig.

One said: “Umrah Mubarak.”

They were referring to Aima’s recent Umrah performed during Ramadan.

Many fans of Aima came to her defence, shielding her from the trolls and critics.

A user wrote in her support: “Traditional norms dictate modesty in clothing, particularly for women, and any deviation from these norms always invites harsh scrutiny and condemnation.”

Another said: “It is her own choice, let her wear what she wants.

“She is out of every man’s league who is here leaving hate comments.”

Aima Baig has yet to respond to the negative comments, something she usually faces.
