"That’s what has fascinated Aamir the most."
Kishore Kumar is one of the greatest and most popular personalities in Bollywood history.
Beginning his career as an actor, he later went on to become one of the most influential playback singers in Indian cinema.
With so much love and adulation surrounding him, a biopic of Kishore Kumar is something that many fans want to see.
It has been reported that Aamir Khan could be set to fulfil this wish.
Pinkvilla reported that Anurag Basu is currently in talks with Aamir for the Lagaan actor to play Kishore in the biopic.
The film will reportedly be produced by Bhushan Kumar.
A source revealed: “The Kishore Kumar biopic is a subject close to the heart of Anurag Basu and Bhushan Kumar, and they are looking to bring it to the spectacle in the best possible way.
“Aamir Khan is also a big admirer of Kishore Kumar and loved the vision that Basu has to bring the life of legend to the spectacle.
“The filmmaker has treated it very differently, and that’s what has fascinated Aamir the most.”
When Kishore’s biopic was originally planned, Ranbir Kapoor was set to take on the role.
However, in 2017, Ranbir admitted that the project had been shelved.
The star revealed that not all the people in the singer’s life had permitted the biopic.
In 2020, Kishore’s older son, Amit Kumar, gave an interview to Bollywood Hungama.
During the chat, the host asked him about a biopic on his father.
Amit replied: “The discussions are going on. Nothing has been finalised. We are just watching the scene.
“You will be the first to know on the day it happens.
“It’s very difficult to play Kishore Kumar. I was also asked to do it.
“First of all, I won’t do it because I’m a very bad actor. And why should I do it and get beaten?
“Half of my life has gone in comparison to him. Why should I take the risk?
“I would rather be behind the scenes and earn money!”
Kishore Kumar began his career in 1946, before making his playback singing debut in the film Ziddi (1948).
Over the next four decades, he sung over 2,600 evergreen songs.
Some of the actors he provided playback for included Dev Anand, Jeetendra, Rajesh Khanna, and Amitabh Bachchan.
Kishore Kumar passed away on October 13, 1987.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par.
