"This is dirty politics but I am keeping my calm."

Aaditya Thackeray has responded to the rumours that he is linked to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

The Cabinet Minister of Tourism and Environment Government of Maharashtra dismissed the claims, calling it “dirty politics” born out of “frustration”.

In a statement, Thackeray stated that he is not remotely connected to the case.

He went on to say that having friends in Bollywood is not a crime.

Thackeray stated: “I am Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray’s grandson and I want to say I will never do anything to harm the reputation of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena and the Thackeray family.”

He denied the rumours, calling them “baseless” and insisted that he is keeping calm.

“This is dirty politics but I am keeping my calm.

“The Maharashtra government is fighting a battle against the Coronavirus.

“Some people are unable to accept that we have had some victories, so they have started politicizing the Sushant Singh Rajput case.”

The rumours reportedly originate to the BJP who claimed that a young minister was at a party the night before the Bollywood actor took his own life.

Aaditya revealed that personal attacks have been made towards him and his family.

He added: “Those who are pricked by the success and popularity of the Maharashtra government have started dirty politics over the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.

“Unnecessary mud slinging on me and the Thackeray family. This is nothing but dirty politics arisen out of frustration.”

The politician reinforced that he has nothing to do with Sushant’s death despite the allegations.

“I am not even remotely connected to the case. I wish to say as the grandson of Hinduruday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray, that I will never do anything that would hurt the prestige of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena and Thackeray family.

“The people who are levelling baseless allegations should understand this.”

This is the first time that Aaditya Thackeray has spoken about the controversy surrounding Sushant’s death.

It has been alleged that the Maharashtra government, specifically the Mumbai Police, have been trying to cover up any foul play.

Rumours suggest that they have been protecting a politician connected to Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, who has been accused by the actor’s family of taking money from his account and mentally harassing him.

Senior BJP leader Narayan Rane had previously accused the Maharashtra government of trying to “save someone” in the investigation.

Former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Sushil Modi, had also alleged that Uddhav Thackeray was trying to shield the “Bollywood mafia” at the behest of Congress party, a coalition partner in Maharashtra government.
