Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father, KK Singh has filed an FIR against his son’s girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty citing abetment of suicide.
The late actor’s father has registered the case with the Patna Police.
Inspector General of Patna Central Zone, Sanjay Singh told ANI that the case was reported under several sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Taking to Twitter, the news portal posted:
“FIR registered against actor Rhea Chakraborty under various sections, including abetment of suicide, on the complaint of #SushantSinghRajput’s father.”
They further added:
“A four-member team has been sent to Mumbai. The team will collect case diary and other important documents from Mumbai Police: Sanjay Singh, Inspector General, Panta Central Zone.”
The case against the actress has been lodged under the following sections:
- 341 – Punishment for wrongful restraint
- 342 – Punishment for wrongful confinement
- 380 – Theft in a dwelling house
- 406 – Punishment for criminal breach of trust
- 420 – Cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property
- 306 – Abetment of suicide
Sushant tragically committed suicide on 14 June 2020. It was revealed that he was suffering from depression six months prior to his demise.
Since then, the Mumbai Police has been investigating the case. In June 2020, they recorded Rhea’s statement.
Many others have been questioned in connection to the case. These include Rhea’s brother, Showik Chakraborty, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Aditya Chopra just to name a few.
Previously, Rhea Chakraborty took to Instagram to reveal that she has been threatened online by an Instagram user – ‘mannu_raaut.’ She wrote:
“I was called a gold digger … I kept quiet. I was called a murderer … I kept quiet. I was slut shamed … I kept quiet.
“But how does my silence give you the right to tell me that you will get me RAPED and MURDERED if I don’t commit suicide @mannu_raaut?”
Recently, Rhea shared a picture of Sushant on Instagram. She urged the Home Ministry to transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
She wrote:
“Respected @amitshahofficial sir, I’m Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, it is now over a month since his sudden demise.”
“I have complete faith in the government, however in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry into this matter.
“I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step. Yours sincerely, Rhea Chakraborty.”
