An Indian man has filed an FIR against his wife for marrying her Pakistani lover.

Anju, who resides in Rajasthan, legally travelled to Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to meet Nasrullah, a man she reportedly fell in love with after meeting him on Facebook.

She had told her husband that she was going to Jaipur to see a friend.

Arvind Kumar previously said: “She left home saying she has to meet her friend. I talked to her on WhatsApp a few days ago and got to know that she was in Lahore.”

He added that he and Anju have been married since 2007 and they have two children.

It attracted a lot of attention but despite the reports, Anju insisted that she did not go to Pakistan to marry him.

However, she contradicted her statement and has now married her Pakistani lover.

Arvind has now filed an FIR against his wife and Nasrullah at Phoolbagh Police Station.

The case was registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 366 (inducing women for marriage), 494 (second marriage without divorce), 500 (defamation) and 506 (criminal Intimidation).

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sujit Shankar said the case was also registered under the IT Act.

Arvind stated that he and Anju are not divorced yet, therefore, she has illegally married Nasrullah.

Senior officers in Pakistan’s Upper Dir district said Anju married Nasrullah at a court and a proper Nikah was performed after she converted to Islam.

Arvind has urged the Indian government to investigate his wife’s passport and visa to check if she used fake documents and signatures to travel to Pakistan.

He said: “Anju has said she submitted divorce papers in Delhi three years ago but I have not received any summons or notice from the court yet.

“On paper, she is still my wife. She cannot marry anyone else.”

“The government should get the matter investigated.”

Anju is originally from the village of Kailor, Uttar Pradesh. She and Nasrullah befriended each other after meeting on Facebook in 2019.

After it was revealed that Anju had married her Pakistani lover, her father said he had disowned her for abandoning her husband and their two children.

Gaya Prasad Thomas said: “The way she ran away leaving her two children and husband behind… she did not even think of her children.

“If she wanted to do this, she should have divorced her husband first. She is no more (alive) for us.”
