Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has died, having tragically taken his own life.

Mumbai Police confirmed that his body was found at his home in Bandra.

News of his death has shocked the Bollywood industry and many have paid tribute to the 34-year-old actor.

In a statement, Sushant’s spokesperson said:

“It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us.

“We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work like they have done so far. We request the media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief.”

Sushant first achieved success when he starred as the male lead in Ekta Kapoor’s show Pavitra Rishta. His role earned him several awards including Indian Television Academy Awards and BIG Star Entertainment Awards.

He also participated in dance reality shows Zara Nachke Dikha and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4.

Sushant made the transition to Bollywood and made his debut in the 2013 film Kai Po Che!

The actor also became a part of hit films like Detective Byomkesh BakshyKedarnath and Chhichhore. However, his portrayal of MS Dhoni in the biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story was one of his highlights.

Chhichhore director Nitesh Tiwari said:

“I am too shocked and numbed to say anything. I saw the news on TV and then reached out to a few people. And I don’t know. He was like a young brother to me.

“We exchanged a few messages a week ago, and I got no such hint that he was not feeling well. I had no idea about his battle with depression.

“Had I known, I would have been the first person to reach out to him. I always treated him like a younger brother. It’s a huge shock for each one of us.”

Bollywood stars paid tribute to the actor after hearing of his shocking death.

Actress Disha Patani shared a picture of her and Sushant on the set of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.

Ajay Devgn posted: “The news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is truly sad. What a tragic loss. Deepest condolences to his family & loved ones. May his soul find eternal peace.”

Akshay Kumar wrote: “I remember watching Sushant Singh Rajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it.

“Such a talented actor… may God give strength to his family.”

Anushka Sharma said: “Sushant, you were too young and brilliant to have gone so soon.

“I’m so sad and upset knowing that we lived in an environment that could not help you through any troubles you may have had. May your soul rest in peace.”

Sushant’s death comes shortly after his ex-manager, Disha Salian, passed away after reportedly falling from the window of her friend’s home.

Sushant was last seen in the Netflix film Drive opposite Jacqueline Fernandez. His upcoming film is the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars.
