Three people have been arrested by the Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police for creating and circulating AI-generated media of Kannada actor Rukmini Vasanth.

The accused allegedly used artificial intelligence tools to create morphed visuals of the Kantara: Chapter 1 actor deliberately.

They shared the fabricated visuals online with the apparent intention of defaming the actress and damaging her professional reputation.

Authorities seized three mobile phones during the operation as part of their investigation into the serious cybercrime.

Police have launched a detailed and ongoing investigation to determine the full extent of the criminal activity involved.

The arrests come after the 29-year-old actor filed a cybercrime complaint following AI-generated bikini photos linked to her.

Those visuals had gone viral across social media platforms, causing distress and concern to the actress and her family.

Rukmini Vasanth said the circulating visuals were completely fabricated and not authentic representations of her in any way.

She called for strict action against those who misuse artificial intelligence technology for harmful and malicious purposes online.

The accused were subsequently presented before a judicial magistrate following their arrest by police authorities.

They were remanded to custody as the investigation progresses and authorities gather more evidence in the case.

Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The BNS provisions allow authorities to pursue serious charges related to cybercrime and online harassment matters effectively.

Investigators are also examining whether additional individuals were involved in the creation and circulation of the doctored content.

The deepfake video that went viral showed a professional photoshoot setup with sophisticated visual effects and editing.

It depicted a woman stepping into a swimming pool while wearing a green bikini.

The clips spread quickly across social media platforms, sparking widespread online discussion about the video’s authenticity.

Many social media users initially believed the footage was authentic, not realising it was artificially created using AI.

In May 2026, Rukmini Vasanth strongly condemned the AI-generated bikini pictures that had been circulating on various platforms.

She issued a formal statement clarifying that the widely shared visuals were completely fabricated and artificially created.

She cautioned that she would pursue legal action against those responsible for creating and spreading the deepfake content.

Following the complaint, she also noted that such incidents do not affect only female actors in the industry.

She emphasised that many girls and women across the entire country face similar threats from deepfake technology.

Despite the negative aspects, she acknowledged that AI also has many positives and useful applications in society.

On the work front, Rukmini Vasanth will next be seen in Toxic, a film that stars Yash in the lead role.
