With a host of awards already under her belt and a massive fan following, Sunidhi Chauhan can easily be called the most loved singer of this generation.

Ever since her debut film Shastra (1996), there has been no looking back for the singing queen. Now, at the age of 34, Chauhan has achieved the longest strides of her career.

If you asked the musicians of the Bollywood music industry to describe Chauhan’s accolades — the list would be endless.

Chauhan’s unique quality is that her choice of songs is based on meaningful lyrics as well as the musical composition of the song.

The songstress has grown from one song to another and is constantly evolving.

As Sunidhi Chauhan turns a year older, DESIblitz brings to you some of her best numbers.

1. ‘Woh Kaun Hai’ ~ Shaadi Ka Laddoo (2004)

This song showcases Sunidhi Chauhan’s ability to change her tonal quality with such ease and charisma.

Vishal-Shekhar’s composition helps in the emotional effect of the song by never adding a single hard beat and letting Chauhan’s vocal melody float over their soft and creamy harmony.

2. ‘Le Chale’ ~ My Brother Nikhil (2005)

The song is a true reflection of what My Brother Nikhil is all about: soul, passion and hope. Amitabh Varma’s words create an aural masterpiece.

Chauhan brought out a new facet to her singing with this track. Her honeyed voice suits perfectly with Viveck Philip’s music. It’s easily one of the best songs of her career.

3. ‘Beedi’ ~ Omkara (2006)

The dominating vocals are by Sunidhi Chauhan and Sukhwinder Singh with some background support by Nachiketa Chakravorty and Clinton Cerejo.

Chauhan and Singh utter each and every word with relish, lending the right amount of rusticity and raunchiness to the song.

Chauhan is particularly terrific as she switches octaves, drops notes and then picks them right up. Add to this the whistles, clapping, Gulzar’s lyrics and we have a sure-shot winner.

It also fetched Chauhan a Filmfare Award.

4. ‘Gudgudee’ ~ Just Married (2007)

‘Gudgudee’, rendered exquisitely by the romance queen herself, Sunidhi Chauhan.

The elegance of the piano splashes all over Chauhan’s vocals, making way for an auditory excursion filled with all sorts of treasures.

Not to mention, Pritam has landed himself into a mesmerising melody. Gulzar’s romantic lyrics are unmatched yet again.

5. Heartbeat Indian Mix ft. Enrique Iglesias (2011)

Sunidhi Chauhan made her international debut with this song, in collaboration with Enrique Iglesias.

The track is a pleasant and romantic ballad with a fusion of Indian and Western music.

The soft piano music works as a milieu for Iglesias’ romantic vocals and a strong percussion beat merges well with Chauhan’s versatile vocals variations, thus upholding the essence of a perfect blend between Indian and Western music.

7. ‘Yaaram’ ~ Ek Thi Daayan (2013)

The lyrics by Gulzar, crooned by Sunidhi Chauhan and Clinton Cerejo, weave magic.

It starts with an unplugged feel with guitar strums and the soulful voice of Chauhan, as one gets involved in the song, there and then Gulzar captivates the listener’s mind with some very simple yet extraordinary words that instantly connects.

8. ‘Kamli’ from Dhoom:3 (2013)

This song is a demonstration of Sunidhi Chauhan’s versatility. If Katrina Kaif brought her electric dance moves, Chauhan brought her soul to ‘Kamli’.

Darkhaast is all about love and passion and will surely melt your heart.
