Rockstar Games unveiled an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on August 27, showcasing more of Vice City, its characters and the huge open world that players will explore when the game arrives.
Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5, the extended look offered a closer look at Rockstar’s most ambitious Grand Theft Auto game yet.
For British Asian gamers, the reaction has been just as enthusiastic, with many sharing their excitement over the game’s visuals and seemingly endless level of detail.
Ajay* revealed he is planning to take a day off work on release day:
“I’ve already cleared my schedule and will tell my boss I’m ‘sick’. November can’t come soon enough!”
The footage highlights the huge leap in development since Grand Theft Auto V was released in 2013.
From detailed interiors and realistic character movements to busy streets filled with individual NPCs, GTA VI is designed to make its world feel more alive than ever.
Rohan said: “GTA VI might be the best-looking game I’ve ever seen. The lighting is incredible. I’m glad I avoided all of the leaks.
“That extended look blew me away.”
Akash added: “It’s safe to say now that I haven’t seen a game like GTA VI before.
“Everything from visuals, character movement, physics and the way each one interacts looks so natural and extremely realistic. Rockstar cooked with this one!”
One of the biggest talking points is the sheer level of detail.
Hair moves naturally, environments appear highly interactive and even background characters seem to have considerably more personality and purpose.
The extended look also shows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos spending time together as they navigate a criminal underworld across Leonida.
The pair are forced to rely on each other during the story but Rockstar has said their relationship is dynamic rather than purely scripted.
That has given fans plenty to speculate about, particularly as the game appears to combine its criminal storyline with a more personal relationship between the protagonists.
Saif said: “A short-tempered woman and a big shy guy is perfectly passable in reality.
“I’m looking forward to seeing them, especially in those moments when one of them gets jealous.”
The wider world of GTA VI also attracted attention.
While Vice City was at the centre of the footage, Rockstar revealed other parts of Leonida, including rural and coastal environments.
The extended look also reveals how important social media will be within the game. Characters can stream events, interact with online audiences and use their phones in ways that reflect how central social platforms have become to everyday life.
Aaron said:
“The detail of NPCs pulling out their phones to record your crimes before calling the cops is next-level immersion.”
That element could prove particularly interesting because Grand Theft Auto has always reflected aspects of contemporary culture through satire.
GTA VI appears ready to take that even further by making online personalities, viral moments and digital behaviour part of its world.
The extended look also revealed more detailed combat, disguises, driving, racing and a range of activities that players can undertake across Leonida.
Yet it is the overall sense of scale that appears to have left the strongest impression.
Rockstar has described GTA VI as the biggest and most immersive evolution of the series, and the extended look certainly appears designed to demonstrate why.
For fans who have spent years waiting for the next instalment, however, the footage also raised an obvious question: can GTA VI live up to the enormous expectations surrounding it?
According to Zain: “I knew the GTA VI graphics would be insane and I’m still blown away.”
With Grand Theft Auto VI scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, fans still have several months to wait before they can experience Leonida for themselves. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Until then, the extended look has given gamers plenty to dissect, from Jason and Lucia’s relationship to the game’s graphics, world and immersive features.
