The trailer for Omair Rana and Ahad Raza Mir’s upcoming spy film has finally been released.
The film is based on the popular Urdu novel series Inspector Jamshed, loved by generations of readers.
DRM Production released the trailer for Inspector Jamshed: The Secret Parchment on August 28, 2026.
This marks Omair Rana’s silver screen debut, as he plays the title role of the sleuth.
The film is currently slated for a release sometime in 2027.
The trailer promises fast cars, blazing guns and secret societies in true spy film fashion.
It also highlights the power of family, which brings all the characters together in the story.
The plot appears to revolve around a mysterious secret parchment at the centre of the story.
A series of murders in the film are linked to Ahad Raza Mir’s character, Behzaad.
Behzaad is described as handsome yet eccentric, and serves as the film’s main antagonist.
Inspector Jamshed is supported in his mission by his three children throughout the story.
His children, Mehmood, Farooq and Farzana, are played by Ravel Imran and sibling duo Ahmed and Aline Harkous.
Anoushay Abbasi plays Shakeela, who is Jamshed’s wife in the film.
Asif Raza Mir, who is also a co-producer, plays Khan Rehman, the inspector’s trusted friend.
The trailer is packed with explosions, high-tech gadgets and stunning visuals shot in Abu Dhabi.
That is where the entire film was shot, giving it a grand cinematic look.
There is also a glimpse of tension between Jamshed and Shakeela in one particular scene.
This tension arises after Behzaad kidnaps their daughter, adding emotional stakes to the story.
The film draws from Ishtiaq Ahmed’s children’s novel series.
Ahmed, a prolific Urdu novelist, passed away in 2015 after a long and prolific writing career.
He began writing in 1973 and went on to write nearly 800 books during his lifetime.
His other well-known works include the Inspector Kamran Mirza and Shoki Brothers series.
In an earlier promotional clip, Ahad Raza Mir spoke about his personal connection to the story.
He said he and co-star Faran Tahir, who plays Zafar Burki, “grew up” reading the novels.
Faran Tahir plays the character Zafar Burki in this highly anticipated film adaptation.
Omair Rana also spoke about the experience of working on such a large-scale project.
He said the film felt like “the whole world coming together” given its diverse team.
The cast and crew reportedly include people from over 13 different nationalities.
Fans of the original novels now eagerly await the film’s release in 2027.
