A woman shared her emotional pain of having an abortion, after being pressured to do so by her Indian ex-boyfriend.

The woman took to Reddit and explained that she had been in an interracial relationship with the younger man for a year.

But as their relationship deteriorated and were set to break up, she discovered she was pregnant.

Despite the split, the woman said she wanted to embrace motherhood after seeing a soft toy and believing it was a sign.

In the post, she wrote: “I told him I would not demand anything from him. I really felt I could give the baby a good life.”

However, her former lover pressured her to have an abortion and tried to guilt trip if she kept the baby.

The unnamed Reddit user continued:

“I wanted to keep it, but he pressured me to have an abortion. He said he would hate me forever if I went through with it and that he would disappear if I kept the baby.”

Reluctantly, she went through with the abortion.

During her time of grieving, her ex-boyfriend supported her financially but not emotionally.

She stated: “I feel empty and keep asking myself how I can miss someone who never existed. I went to his house looking for comfort, which was a mistake.

“He made it clear that the baby meant nothing to him and showed no empathy for my pain. I wondered who this person really was.”

Things took a turn when the woman received a call from the man’s ex-girlfriend in India.

According to the Reddit user, the split was because the man’s family were against him having a non-Indian wife, therefore he told her there was no future.

The ex-girlfriend said that this was untrue but claimed she and the man were back in contact and were planning to get married.

The Reddit user said: “I chose not to believe her.”

Highlighting the man’s lack of ambition, she said:

“What makes it harder is that I fell in love with him even though he wasn’t very smart or successful.”

“I often saw how his friends felt sorry for him and his lack of skills, but instead of judging him, I wanted to protect and support him.

“I still loved his kind heart and deep feelings – or so I thought.

“That kind heart was nowhere to be found when it was truly needed.”

Concluding her post, the woman said her grief had worsened two months after the abortion.

In the comments section, many supported her.

While some urged her to seek professional help, others said the split was the best thing for her, labelling the man a “coward”.

Slamming the man, one wrote: “This reminded me of how some Indian men ‘have fun’ with foreign girls then marry Indian girls. He was definitely one of them.”

Another said: “Unfortunately, some Indian men struggle with a fragile ego, leading them to believe they are superior to others.

“This mindset can lead to condescending behaviour and mistreatment of those around them.”
