A newly married Indian school bus driver from the district of Kapurthala in Punjab committed suicide under circumstances revealed by his father.

Manjinder Singh drove the school bus around the Chorbatti Chowk area on the Sultanpur Lodhi Road route.

He parked his bus and sat on the side of the road and took a poisonous substance to sadly take his own life.

Manjinder was later confirmed dead at the civil hospital in Kapurthala.

Manjinder’s mother and family are devastated by the news and cannot believe what he has done.

The reason for his suicide came to light after his father, Kuldeep Singh, filed a complaint with Sultanpur Lodhi city police on Sunday, April 21, 2019.

Manjinder’s father explained that his son had taken part in an arranged marriage about 25 days earlier in the village of Pandori in the district of Tarn Taran.

The family and everyone was together for the marriage and everything seemed okay with Manjinder.

However, after his marriage, it became apparent that Manjinder was having a love affair with a girl who studied at school in the city of Sultanpur Lodhi.

The girl from the village Talwandi Chaudhrian is someone who is likely to have travelled on his bus for the school journey.

The girl had been pressuring Manjinder to marry her and having got recently married, he did not know what to do. Which is why his father says his son committed suicide.

On Saturday, April 20, 2019, Manjinder set-off to the school to drive his in the morning, says his father.

Then at about 8.30 am they received a call from a mobile phone from the girl, who informed them that Manjinder had swallowed a poisonous substance and was admitted into hospital in a critical condition.

Immediately, the family rushed to the civil hospital but the girl who called them was no longer there. She had left.

The doctors trying to treat Manjinder then informed the family that could not be saved due to the extent of the poison in his body.

Kuldeep Singh has registered a police report against the girl whom he says is the core reason for his son’s suicide.

Police are treating the death as a suicide but are investigating the case.

They confirm that they have not managed to arrest the girl involved in the affair with Manjinder at this stage.
