Winners of the 13th Lux Style Awards 2014

Celebrating Pakistani glamour and entertainment, the Lux Style Awards is undoubtedly the biggest event on the Pakistani calendar.

Stars and celebrities attended the 13th Lux Style Awards on December 4th 2014, at the Movenpick Ballroom in Karachi.

For 2014, the Lux Style Awards was an enchanting affair recognising the excellence of talent across Pakistan’s high profile entertainment industries.

Hosted by Momal Sheikh, the 27 award categories were split into a number of genres, including, Fashion, Music, TV and Film.

Under the Fashion banner, Cybil Chowdhry took the win for a second year running for ‘Model of the Year (Female)’. She was up against the likes of Amna Ilyas, Fouzia Aman, Nooray Bhatty and Rabia Butt.

The rugged and dark haired Abbas Jaffri took ‘Model of the Year (Male)’, showing how Pakistani fashion is keeping up with Western trends of shabby chic sophistication.

Fashion extraordinaire, Sana Mastikya took two awards for ‘Achievement in Fashion Design’, for her ‘Luxury Pret’ and ‘Lawn’ collections. A big name on the fashion scene, Sana has been setting the bar high for her exquisite designs. ‘Best High Street Brand’ was awarded to Khaadi, while Ahmed Bham took the ‘Best Menswear’ award.

On the Film and TV side, Zinda Bhaag proved to be a firm favourite with the crowd, winning ‘Best Film’, ‘Best Director’ for Meenu Gaur and Farjad and Nabi, and ‘Best Actor’ for Khurram Patras.

Speaking about their big win, Meenu and Farjad said: “Working everyday on Zinda Bhaag was full of fun anyways and now to get these awards for it is like some serious icing on the cake!”

‘Best Actress’ however went to the supremely talented Aamina Sheikh for her role in Seedlings.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai continues to show its worth as both Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed won ‘Best TV Actor Satellite’ and ‘Best TV Actress Satellite’ respectively. Sanam recognised the gratitude saying: “I’m grateful that the work that I did two years ago, [Zindagi Gulzar Hai] is still being acknowledged.”

‘Best TV Serial Satellite’ went to ARY Digital’s Daagh, while for ‘Terrestrial’, the award went to Mar Jaen Hum Toh Kya.

On the music side, Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan took the award for ‘Song of the Year’ for his beautiful track, ‘Malaal’, while ‘Best Album’ went to Yaran Di Toli by Rizwan Ali Jaffri.

It is clear that the importance of such a prestigious event for Pakistan’s extraordinary talents and creative minds is vital to support the Arts across the region in the future.

Brand Manager for LUX Azka Waqar admits: “In the absence of any institution to record the achievement of Pakistan’s Entertainment and Fashion industry, LUX Style Awards was established to do just that 13 years ago.

“LUX gave Pakistan a platform to appreciate and award talent across the genres of Film, Music Fashion and TV. We believe in our local talent and artists and are committed to celebrating and appreciating them year on year.”
