Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone was asked which actor looked best shirtless by Karan Johar and surprisingly she did not pick her husband Ranveer Singh who she was then dating.
Deepika featured on an episode of Koffee with Karan during the fourth season of the show and participated in the ‘Rapid Fire Round’.
On this segment of the show, host Karan asks his guests random questions which they must answer instantly.
In this instance, both Deepika and Priyanka graced the popular talk show.
During the ‘Rapid Fire Round’, Karan Johar asked Deepika who looked best shirtless, Ranveer Singh, John Abraham, Salman Khan or Hrithik Roshan.
At that time, Deepika was dating actor Ranveer Singh who she is now married to.
Interestingly, the actress picked “Salman Khan” over her then-boyfriend Ranveer Singh.
Despite not thinking Ranveer Singh looked the best shirtless, the couple tied the knot on 14 and 15 November 2018 in Italy.
The couple also hosted extravagant receptions in Bengaluru and Mumbai with the who’s who of Bollywood in attendance.
Meanwhile, the actress was last seen on the big screen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak (2020) opposite Vikrant Massey.
Deepika will next be seen in Kabir Khan’s 83 (2020). The film also stars her husband Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
Deepika will be seen playing the role of Ranveer Singh’s onscreen wife.
According to an interview with BollywoodLife, director Kabir Khan spoke about how Deepika came on board. He said:
“I think the background, the fact that her dad, Prakash Padukone was a sports superstar, that influenced her very strongly.
“It wasn’t because Deepika had agreed to do the film that I wrote the role.”
“Deepika liked the role and that’s why she agreed to do the film. We never initially intended it that way [Deepika being a part of the film], and as Deepika said, there’s a certain support role that the family plays and I wanted to capture that.
“That is why I wrote the character of Romi and when I narrated it to Deepika, I knew it was a small role.
“So, I said to Deepika, ‘Just listen to the film. If you like it, you’ll come on board, if not, you won’t come on board.’
“She heard the film and she knew it was about the team and the boys and Kapil. But she just loved the script and so, she came on board.”
83 is expected to release in December 2020.
