Police described the incident as a case of domestic violence
A senior technology executive and former Google employee was shot dead by her husband at their home in Georgia in an alleged domestic violence incident.
Sheetal Wrzesien was found with gunshot wounds inside her family home in Smyrna, a city in Cobb County near Atlanta, after police responded to reports of a shooting shortly before 8:00 pm on July 7.
Emergency responders took her for medical treatment, but she later died because of her injuries.
Her husband, 56-year-old Kirk B Wrzesien, was arrested at the residence and is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Centre.
The couple’s 23-year-old son, Jason Wrzesien, was found outside the home suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment by emergency responders. Authorities have not provided any updated information on his medical condition.
According to local news reports citing the Cobb County Police Department, Kirk Wrzesien has been charged with one count of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Police described the incident as a case of domestic violence and said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Authorities have not revealed what led to the shooting and have not identified a possible motive.
The investigation is ongoing, with officials yet to announce any additional arrests.

At the time of her death, she was working as a tech leader at GoTo Foods.
A former Google employee, she was known for leading technology and product innovation across industries, including e-commerce, MarTech, media and WeatherTech.
A computer engineering graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Sheetal developed a reputation for building innovative technology solutions across diverse sectors.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she was “a visionary tech leader with a proven track record in product and technology management”, specialising in building innovative technology solutions in diverse sectors.
Wrzesien was also actively involved with her alma mater. She served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association and was on the Advisory Board of the Georgia Tech College of Computing.
She was also a co-inventor of two software patents, reflecting her contributions to technological innovation and product development throughout her career.
