"It’s about time that we need to portray strong female figures"
Urwa Hocane is going to be back on our TV screens to star in a new drama serial called Meri Shehzadi.
She will share the screen with Ali Rehman Khan, Najiba Faiz, veteran actors Muhammad Qavi Khan, Shamim Hilaly, Atiqa Odho, Shabbir Jan, Nauman Masood and others.
The upcoming TV serial has been written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah who has also written Pyaar ke Sadqay, Bashar Momin and Cheekh.
It is being directed by Qasim Ali Mureed of Mere Humsafar under the banner of Momina Duraid’s production for HUM TV.
Urwa Hocane shared the first look of the drama on her Instagram account, revealing that she plays a character called Dania, who is also referred to as Diana.
She was raised by her grandfather, a dedicated admirer of monarchies, who treats his granddaughter like a princess.
The caption questions whether Dania will share the same trials and tribulations as a royal.
According to a press release, the serial is said to have a glimpse of love, anguish and tragedy as the drama captures “the reminiscence of Lady Diana” in Dania.
Her character is a political leader, and a philanthropist who has won the hearts of the people where she resides.
In the official statement, Urwa said: “It’s about time that we need to portray strong female figures and Meri Shehzadi is filled with these messages, where the viewers will learn along the way.”
In 2020, the actor made her TV comeback with Mushk alongside Imran Ashraf.
A year later, Urwa Hocane was seen in multiple TV shows such as the horror show Neeli Zinda Hai, Amanat with Imran Abbas and Saboor Aly and most recently Badzaat with Ashraf.

Now the actor has been paired with Rehman, with whom she has never shared a screen before.
Urwa Hocane is also gearing up for her production debut for Tich Button which stars Farhan Saeed, Feroze Khan, Iman Ali and Sonya Hussyn.
It will be released in theatres nationwide on October 28, 2022.
Meanwhile, Urwa Hocane recently gave her opinion on a man’s importance in a woman’s life.
During an interview, she stated that a man is not needed to live a life.
Urwa asked: “What do you need a man for? You don’t need a man to live your life.
“I’m sure you would like to have one but it’s not necessary. In my opinion, there’s no need of depending upon a man in your life.”
The actress married Farhan Saeed in 2016 but there have been rumours that they separated.
Despite the rumours, neither has confirmed nor denied the matter.
Farhan ignored questions on the matter and said: “Ideally, I think to comment on the things which are shared but that’s idealism.
“When you are famous and in the public eye, there is always a price to pay. Criticism and praise come hand in hand. Just answer want you to want to and ignore other things.”
