"Why aren't the others trying to stop him?"

A train journey turned violent when one passenger repeatedly punched another in front of horrified eyewitnesses.

The incident happened shortly before 12:00 pm on November 24, 2024, at Paddington Station on the Elizabeth Line to Heathrow.

It is reported that the attack happened after one man refused to move his bags off a seat.

The younger man, who was dressed in a white puffer jacket and matching joggers, was seen in a tussle with a man sitting down.

Footage captured by an eyewitness showed the angry train passenger bundling the man into his seat before repeatedly punching him in the head.

Other passengers were seen moving out of the way while some pleaded with the younger man to stop his assault.

The victim, dressed in a blue coat, black trousers and black hat, managed to stand up and was seen exchanging words with the young man before he got off the train.

One horrified woman on the train screamed: “Help, help.”

Another said: “F****** hell.”

A third pleaded: “Oh my God, please.”

The man dressed in white then muttered to his victim: “Outside.”

As the two men left the carriage, one passenger said:

“That’s scary isn’t it?”

It is understood that staff then intervened but one woman told them:

“Not him, just that guy in white.

“He didn’t do anything, he just got beaten.”

On social media, netizens were shocked by the level of violence but were baffled as to why no one helped.

One said: “The problem is not only the a*****e who does the punching.

“Why aren’t the others trying to stop him?”

Another agreed and added: “Why did no one step in and help?

“That’s my biggest concern with all of this.

“You have every legal right to step in and defend someone.”

Criticising the lack of intervention, a third wrote:

“Nobody ever helps; they just film it or run.”

One comment read: “And not one person helps him.”

However, one social media user hit out at the man for leaving his bags on the seat and wrote:

“People shouldn’t use up two seats then.”

A British Transport Police spokesperson said:

“We received reports of a fight taking place between two men on an Elizabeth Line service at Paddington railway station at around 11:30 am on Sunday (Nov 24).

“Officers attended and spoke to both men, with one man taken to hospital.

“Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 quoting reference 249 of 24 November.”
