Nine seconds of the sex scene has been censored.
Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming romantic drama Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya has witnessed censorship of a sex scene just two days before its theatrical release.
It is reported that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has “reduced the scene of a sex act by 25%”.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the film has also received an “audio medication”.
Nine seconds of the sex scene has been censored. The scene, which was previously 36 seconds, has now been cut to 27 seconds.
The second half of the film previously featured the word ‘daru’. The word has now been replaced with ‘drink’.
The CBFC has also requested the Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya makers to add their anti-smoking message in Hindi in a bigger font.
After the changes were made, the CBFC passed the film with a U/A certificate.
According to the censor certificate, the runtime is two hours and 23 minutes.
Also starring Kriti Sanon, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya explores an impossible love story in the uncharted territory of artificial intelligence.
In the film, Shahid plays a robotics scientist who develops feelings and finally marries Sifra (Kriti), an intelligent robot.
The film is written and directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah.
Co-produced by Dinesh Vijan, Jyoti Deshpande and Laxman Utekar, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya will be released on February 9, 2024.
It also stars Dimple Kapadia and Dharmendra.
During a promotional event, Shahid said:
“I was wondering why I haven’t done a love story for a long time.
“It often happens that you get back-to-back films from a similar space.”
“But I wanted to do something different. The word ‘different’ is defined by this film because the subject is so unique that I never imagined doing it.
“So it is a very fresh and different concept for me.”
Meanwhile, the film has faced questions over its long title.
Defending it, Shahid cited Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge:
“I remember when DDLJ came out, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
“All the titles were like Ghatak, Ghayal, Jeet, that was the vibe and then this one long title came and I remember before the film came out, everybody was discussing that ‘it’s too long, we don’t know what they are saying’ but when you want to make a love story I feel, it’s okay to have slightly longer titles.
Discussing Jab We Met‘s title, Shahid revealed it was met with scepticism.
“I remember when I did Jab We Met, everyone was like ‘What is this title?’
“Because at that time, this whole thing of Hindi-English, like putting a Hindi and an English word in one title was not a thing.”
