To showcase this strong message, Taapsee is seen questioning viewers in a concept video.

The video poses the question, “why don’t we have a disclaimer for Thappad on-screen when we have one for alcohol consumption, smoking and animal cruelty?”

Taapsee urges viewers to sign a petition after highlighting that films take into account the need for disclaimers, yet they fail to acknowledge violence.

Taapsee Pannu and the filmmakers of Thappad (2020) have requested the censor board to make it mandatory for films to carry a domestic violence disclaimer.

The Country Director of Change.org India, Nida Hasan, showered praise for Taapsee Pannu. She said:

“When most of our films are filled with misogynistic portrayals of women, films like Thappad (2020) trigger our collective conscience.

“Taapsee’s support for Mahika’s petition is a powerful statement for the Indian film industry to take responsibility for the right messaging on domestic violence that affects millions of women in our country every day.”

The highly-anticipated film is helmed by Anubhav Sushila Sinha and Bhushan Sudesh Kumar.

Thappad (2020) is directed by Anubhav Sushi Sinha. It stars Taapsee Pannu as Amrita and Pavail Gulati as her on-screen husband.

Undoubtedly, the need for films to carry domestic violence disclaimers is necessary.

We wait to see whether Taapsee Pannu’s video will impact people and urge them to sign the petition.

Thappad is scheduled to hit the big screen on February 28, 2020.
