Taapsee Pannu recalls Friends’ Worries about her 1st Date

Taapsee Pannu revealed that her friends were concerned for her as she was set for her first date with Mathias Boe.

The actress revealed that Mathias proposed to her within a year of their first meeting. They ended up being engaged for over nine years.

Recalling their first date, Taapsee said:

“He proposed to me, saying, ‘I would like to take you on a date either in Denmark or Dubai because these are the two places I know very well to plan things’.

“I was like, ‘Who will go all the way to Denmark? Who will go through the trouble of getting a Schengen visa.’ It is so difficult. So we decided Dubai.”

Taapsee admitted feeling nervous as it was going to be her first meeting with Mathias.

“I was like, ‘Why is this guy interested in me?’ Being from this part of the world, we have this notion about white people. We all have an inferiority complex.

“So, I was like, ‘Why me?’ Yet, I was prepared to meet him.”

As she prepared to go to Dubai, Taapsee revealed that her friends were worried about her safety.

She elaborated: “My friends were like, ‘Please be careful, what if he sells you off?’ I am not kidding.

“A friend of mine sent me with the contact number of her sister, who lived in Dubai.

“But, luckily, he turned out to be a nice man and it’s already been 11 years.”

Taapsee Pannu was recently at the 2024 Olympics to support India in badminton, of which Mathias was the coach.

After Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost in the quarterfinals, Mathias announced his retirement.

He said: “I have spent too much time in a badminton hall and it’s also pretty stressful to be a coach, I’m a tired old man.”

Taapsee and Mathias got married in March 2024 in a secret ceremony, however, videos from the event circulated online.

Speaking about her relationship with Mathias, Taapsee previously said:

“I had dated so many boys before him, and suddenly, I met a guy who didn’t feel like anyone I’d been with before.”

“So there’s this sudden sense of security and maturity, which was so evident that I felt like, ‘Okay, you’ve finally found the man’.”

On the work front, Taapsee Pannu will next star in Khel Khel Mein.
