"No one asks intelligent questions."
John Abraham opened up about a spat that he had with a journalist.
The incident occurred at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Vedaa.
A journalist asked John: “Lately, it seems that you are only doing one kind of role, especially action.
“Why is that the case? Bring something new.”
Visibly irritated, John replied: “Have you seen the film? Can I call out bad questions and idiots?”
The journalist replied: “From the trailer, it looks like it’s the same old thing.”
John said: “I just want to directly tell you that this film is different.
“In my opinion, it is a very intense performance. You’ve seen the trailer but see the film as well.
“After that, feel free to judge and then I’m all yours. Say whatever you want to say.
“But if you’re wrong, I’m going to turn you around and tear you apart.”
John Abraham recently broke his silence on the matter and asserted that the journalist deserved his response.
He said: “I know that one guy was planted there to rile me up, to antagonise me, to provoke me and I want to say that he won and I lost because I did get angry.
“I don’t like trailer launches because it’s like you are time travelling 20 years in the past.
“It is the same journalists, the same absurd questions, no one is asking the right questions and entertainment journalism, in my opinion, is finished in India.
“No one asks intelligent questions.
“There was a guy sitting there. He must have some boss above him, who must have asked him to push me because this would give them content, and he did that.
“At that point, I reacted. He didn’t win, I lost because I am bigger than that.
“I probably shouldn’t have done it, but it happened. Did he deserve it? Yeah, he deserved it but I moved on.
“In just a minute, I was back on track that I have to focus on myself.”
John Abraham recently garnered acclaim for his antagonistic performance in Pathaan (2023).
In the film, John played Jim – the leader of ‘Outfit X’ and a former RAW agent.
Fans were so impressed by the role that they demanded a separate film for the character.
Meanwhile, Vedaa is scheduled to be released on August 15, 2024.
