"It allowed me to experiment."
The veteran actor Mamunur Rashid has recently completed filming his scenes for the much-anticipated Borbaad.
The film stars Shakib Khan and is directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy in his feature film debut.
Borbaad is hailed as a potential game-changer for Bangladeshi cinema.
Following the shoot in Mumbai, Mamunur Rashid returned to Bangladesh, where he shared insights about his experience on the film.
Describing his time on the Borbaad set as highly rewarding, Mamunur said that some additional scenes are still pending and will require future shoots.
He explained that he portrays a negative character in the film. He stated: “So it allowed me to experiment with a different style of acting.
“I believe the audience will get to see me in a new and different role.
“I haven’t had the chance to meet [Shakib], as I returned to Bangladesh immediately after completing filming my scenes.”
Speculation surrounding Borbaad suggests that it is being produced with a ground-breaking budget of Tk 15 crores.
This would set a new financial precedent for Bangladeshi cinema.
The film is primarily being shot abroad, with around 80% of its scenes filmed in various international locations.
Borbaad aims to deliver a thrilling action experience, promising to elevate the standard of action films in the region.
The action sequences are being crafted by Mumbai’s Ravi Varma, a well-respected action director known for his work in Bollywood and Telugu cinema.
He is known for working on films including Raees (2017), Mission Majnu (2023), and Gadar 2 (2023).
Additionally, influential action directors, including Ejaz Master, are contributing to the project.
The film’s choreography is handled by Bollywood’s Adil Shaikh, and it will feature music from renowned artists such as Pritam Chakraborty.
Idhika Paul, who starred alongside Shakib Khan in the blockbuster Priyotoma (2023), will also play a major role in Borbaad.
Director Mehedi Hasan expressed confidence in the film’s production, stating:
“Whatever I’ve asked for from the producers, they’ve delivered. We’ve got a lot of surprises in store, and everything we’re doing is for the audience.
“We believe no one will be disappointed. Just trust the Borbaad team, and the rest you’ll see on the big screen.”
In addition to his work on Borbaad, Mamunur Rashid is also directing a new drama series titled Charon Chhuye Jay.
This will mark his return to television direction after nearly 25 years.
