“Love exists here, yes, but it consumes and scorches"
Veteran actor and playwright Mamunur Rashid is returning to television with Choron Chhuye Jai.
The 100-episode serial marks his directorial comeback after a long time away from the screen.
The much-anticipated series, written and directed by Rashid, is set to begin airing on Channel i from July 5, 2025.
New episodes will broadcast from Saturday through Wednesday at 7:50 pm.
The director is known for his ability to turn everyday life into compelling drama.
He explained that Choron Chhuye Jai is far from a conventional romantic narrative.
Rashid said: “This isn’t about romance. It’s a tale of a wounded land, of affection, patriotism, grief, and the ache of longing.
“Love exists here, yes, but it consumes and scorches at the same time.”
Set against the backdrop of ordinary households, the drama delves into unspoken family tensions and explores the emotional undercurrents that define domestic life.
Rashid believes this format allows audiences to connect deeply, especially over time.
He said: “Every family has its share of visible and invisible wounds. This drama is about those complexities.”
The return to television wasn’t taken lightly.
Mamunur Rashid admitted he had slowed down significantly in recent years and carefully considered this comeback.
He noted: “This story speaks to the people. That’s why I chose it.”
Rashid added that long-form serials give him room to explore the psychological and emotional nuances of everyday struggles.
With a robust ensemble cast, Choron Chhuye Jai brings together some of Bangladesh’s most seasoned actors.
The series features performances by Chanchal Chowdhury, Abul Kalam Azad, Shamima Tushti and Ahsan Habib Nasim.
