“When I first heard the script, I agreed instantly."

Eid release Ghran has struck an emotional chord with audiences, racking up over 7.2 million YouTube views in just two weeks.

The drama, directed by Masrikul Alam, stars Ziaul Faruq Apurba and Naznin Nahar Niha.

Currently trending at number 20 on YouTube, the story revolves around a son’s quiet but profound awakening.

His moment of truth comes while attending his girlfriend’s aunt’s birthday.

He suddenly realises he doesn’t even know when his own mother was born.

This haunting moment sets him on an emotional journey, set amid the textures of Benarasi Palli in Mirpur.

The script, written by Imdad Babu, balances sentimentality with realism, earning widespread praise from both audiences and colleagues in the industry.

Veteran actress Shelly Ahsan plays the role of the mother, delivering a performance so raw it moved many to tears. This included the actors on set.

Shelly shared: “I broke down multiple times during filming. If every mother had a son like this, the world would be gentler.

Ghran isn’t just a drama, it’s a reminder of the moments we forget to honour.”

Ziaul, known for his emotionally nuanced performances, called the project deeply personal.

He said: “Anyone who has lost their mother will cry. And even those who haven’t will still feel it in their bones.”

Naznin echoed that sentiment: “When I first heard the script, I agreed instantly. It’s rare to come across something so genuine.”

A key scene unfolds in a sari shop, where Ziaul’s character is helped by Rosey Siddiqui.

This results in a flashback that reshapes his emotional arc.

The layered storytelling and restrained performances are drawing admiration for their sincerity.

Ghran was released on June 10, 2025, via Dhupchhaya Entertainment’s YouTube channel.

It featured strong supporting roles by Dilara Zaman, Bardha Mithu, and Siddiqui.

Director Masrikul Alam said Ghran marked his first collaboration with Niha, and her performance left a strong impression.

He said:

“The feedback from both viewers and the industry has been overwhelming. It inspires me to keep telling meaningful stories.”

Audiences have responded with heartfelt messages, especially praising the drama’s message about maternal love and emotional neglect.

One user wrote: “This drama reminded me to call my mother.”

Another added: “We need more stories like this in today’s fast-moving, often indifferent world.”

For many, Ghran is more than just a holiday special, it’s a gentle wake-up call to value what we often take for granted.
