Salman Khan has hit back at trolls who claimed he was scared after he publicly supported the student protests over the alleged NEET paper leak.
The 60-year-old actor responded with two shirtless gym photos posted in the early hours.
In the pictures, Salman is seen posing bare-chested in front of a mirror with a towel placed on his head.
He addressed the criticism directly in the caption, writing: “Salman Khan darrrr gaya…Hmmm joe darr gaya vo mar gaya (Salman Khan got scared. He who fears, dies).”
The defiant and characteristically bold response quickly went viral and drew widespread reactions from fans and followers online.
The post came a day after Salman had originally shared his support for students protesting the alleged NEET examination paper leak.
In that earlier post, the actor had appealed to students gathered at the Jantar Mantar protests to return home safely.
He expressed concern for their safety and urged them not to leave their parents in a state of worry and anxiety.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post about setting up fast-track courts, Salman wrote:
“The students are at top priority, educationally and security-wise, so they need not worry and have their parents worried for them.
“The Honourable Prime Minister has tweeted, and I am sure that he will take strict action against all those people who are responsible for this leak.
“So students, please go back to your parents and homes.”
Salman also took a moment to address social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike for 26 days.
Urging him to end his prolonged fast, the actor wrote: “Sonam, it’s done, bro. Don’t extend this.
“If you want, will send u food from home.”
His lighthearted yet warm message to Wangchuk drew attention alongside the more serious aspects of his overall statement.
In a previous statement, Salman had described the alleged paper leak as “a very serious issue” for the country.
He noted that the protests had started peacefully and strongly urged that the student movement should not be politicised by anyone.
He also called for a fair, transparent and merit-based education system that serves every student across India equitably.
Salman Khan is among a growing number of film personalities who have voiced solidarity with the protesting students in recent days.
Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Rajkummar Rao, R Madhavan and John Cusack have all spoken out in support of the movement.
Sonakshi Sinha, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap have also raised their voices.
All have called for accountability and transparency over the alleged paper leak that has fuelled sustained nationwide student unrest.
