Actors Gauahar Khan and Mithila Palkar are set to be seen together in an upcoming Hindi original film titled Ikroop.
The film is a prison-set drama that explores powerful themes of resilience, sisterhood and revenge in equal measure.
Ikroop is directed by Akram Hassa and produced jointly by Jio Studios and AAZ Films for its streaming premiere.
The film is part of a multilingual content slate and will make its streaming debut on Zee5 very soon.
At the heart of Ikroop is the story of a young rape survivor who is wrongfully convicted of a crime she never committed.
Trapped within a deeply broken justice system, she gradually loses her freedom, her dignity and all sense of hope.
Her life begins to shift when she forms an unlikely and transformative friendship with a fearless fellow inmate inside prison.
The inmate encourages the young woman to find her voice and choose to fight back rather than surrender to her circumstances.
The film’s premise has drawn considerable attention for its unflinching portrayal of systemic failure and the strength of the human spirit.
Gauahar Khan opened up about what drew her to the project and why the story resonated so deeply with her personally.
She said: “What drew me to Ikroop was its emotional honesty and the way it challenges conventional storytelling.
“It’s a film about courage, resilience and the extraordinary strength that can emerge from the most difficult circumstances.”
She went on to explain what she believes sets Ikroop apart from other films dealing with similarly difficult subject matter.
Gauahar added: “What makes it stand out is that it doesn’t seek sympathy for its characters.
“It celebrates their spirit, their agency, and their ability to redefine their own journeys.
“Being part of a story that is both powerful and deeply human has been incredibly special, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience it.”
Her words paint a picture of a film that refuses to reduce its characters to their suffering alone.
Mithila Palkar plays a key role in Ikroop and brings considerable experience and depth to the project alongside Gauahar.
She was most recently seen in director Priyadarshan’s horror comedy Bhooth Bangla, which released in 2026 to audience attention.
Mithila also appeared in the Netflix series Super Subbu in 2026, which featured Sundeep Kishan and Murali Sharma in pivotal roles.
With Ikroop, Mithila Palkar steps into a dramatically different and emotionally demanding space compared to her recent genre outings.
