Her responses drew sharp backlash.

The theatre performer Ruby Anum has sparked outrage after making ageist and disrespectful comments about veteran actor Bushra Ansari.

During a recent appearance on Sabih Sumair’s podcast, she shared her opinions on several female celebrities.

They included Mehwish Hayat, Sajal Ali, Hania Aamir, Bushra Ansari and Asma Abbas.

Her responses drew sharp backlash for their dismissive and insulting undertones.

Ruby praised Sajal, bizarrely suggesting that she would have married her into her family had her brothers not already been taken.

She dismissed Mehwish Hayat by attributing her looks to cosmetic procedures.

However, when the discussion shifted towards senior stars, her tone changed significantly, particularly when speaking about Bushra.

She shockingly suggested the senior actress should retire from acting.

Ruby claimed that Bushra’s vlogs were unsuitable, further saying she was “older than our mothers” and should “fear Allah” for continuing to work.

She followed this by questioning why Asma Abbas still acts and even shops for clothes and shoes.

Ruby implied that women should abandon all of this after a certain age.

Then, she finally declared Bushra was not “beautiful enough” to remain in the public eye, a statement many deemed degrading and unacceptable.

Unsurprisingly, her remarks provoked swift condemnation from fellow actors who described the comments as unnecessary, rude and damaging.

Zhalay Sarhadi called them “incredibly out of line” and suggested they were designed solely to gain cheap viral attention.

Mamya Shajaffar expressed disappointment that women continue to attack one another rather than offer support.

Meanwhile, Ghana Ali kept her response short but firm, labelling Ruby Anum “extremely rude, period.”

Veteran actor Mishi Khan posted a detailed video reaction, saying Ruby’s words were “below the belt.”

Mishi emphasised that Bushra Ansari’s career choices were entirely her own, especially considering how well she had maintained herself over the years.

Mishi added that Ruby Anum had praised Asma Abbas for giving her opportunities and showing respect.

Yet, she contradicted herself by publicly belittling both sisters, questioning why she would attack their vlogging and acting.

For many, the controversy has reignited discussions about how ageism is deeply entrenched in the entertainment industry.

Netizens argued that comments like those made by Ruby Anum only reinforce outdated stereotypes, further burdening women in the media.

They highlighted that the female actors already face immense pressure to conform and that people should encourage a culture of support and recognition.
