"Rakul was thrilled when she was approached"
Indian actress Rakul Preet Singh will be featuring in an upcoming project as a condom tester.
Ronnie Screwvala’s production house ‘RSVP Movies’ has announced a new concept-oriented movie on a less-discussed issue.
The film will be directed by Tejas Deoskar.
The project is yet to be titled, however, Rakul Preet Singh has been cast as a condom tester.
Sharing the details of how the actress reacted and agreed to the role, Tejas Deoskar said:
“Even interestingly, Rakul was thrilled when she was approached for the film.
“She heard the narration and immediately agreed to do it.”
Explaining the topic of the film, the director added:
“Our film is a social family entertainer, which aims at destigmatising the use of condoms.”
Tejas Deoskar went on to explain why Rakul was chosen for the role, elaborating:
“For this one, I always believed Rakul was the best suited for the character.
“She brings freshness to every role that she portrays and with a sensitive, thought-provoking subject like this, she was our first choice.”
Indian film has been quite vocal on the topics that are considered taboo in Indian society.
Movies have been highlighting the issues to spread awareness among the people.
The film industry is helping to break the stereotypes.
Many films like Pad Man, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Good Newwz and Vicky Donor have highlighted many taboo topics of Indian society.
Now Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies is all set to start a debate on condom testers.
A condom tester is a person who deals with quality control.
Big condom manufacturers hire people above the age of 18 and get them on the payroll to do a job.
These quality control executives have to test and check the durability of the condoms during their act of intimacy.
This is done for every new product before the launch and their feedback is given utmost importance.
After positive feedback, the condom is released to the market.
This upcoming film will be another interesting project the production house will be running after Lust Stories and Love per Square Foot.
Rakul Preet Singh will also be featuring in Sardar Ka Grandson along with Arjun Kapoor and Neena Gupta. The film releases on May 18, 2021.
The actress has a couple more projects in her bucket including Attack, Mayday and Thank God.
